Ok... it's GREAT they built Beeghly education a few years back and are starting to build the new Williamson... but how about the piece of poop known as Phelps? Fedor? Cushwa looks like crap. They've remodeled some of the Debartolo classrooms... but that's about it. Even the center of campus, Kilcawly, looks like garbage. They remodeled the one wing with a TACKY vintage look, horrible idea.
Umm... parking on campus is horrible already with the few spaces there are currently... and they want to knock this and lose almost 1,000 spaces for a stupid parking lot? They need to build a modern deck pronto.
Enough control to keep their children from doing foolish crap. Most 18 and 19 year olds are living at home. Being a high school senior doesn't make them rational adults.
"something that needs a lot more attention drawn to it than local businesses who bring revenue to the city"
If there was a ecstacy stand downtown, that generated a lot of money downtown, would that be alright since it's generating money but completely illegal? Serving 400 kids a night is no better. Then people wonder why there are nightly fights happening there.
What concerns me most is that the city is willing to let him sell the business or work something out so he doesn't lose his full investment. If he is able to sell, he's going to sell it to a family member or employee and nothing will change. Take a look at Jay-Jay's for example.
I applaud Judge Durkin and the City of Youngstown for stepping up and enforcing the law. The Cell was a slap in the face to the city because they let anything go inside their walls and had no respect for authority. Who names a bar "The Cell"? Who even opens a bar near a jail?!
Anyways, they are clearly guilty. Their fans can say otherwise, but all of the calls and complaints, arrests and photograph evidence did themselves in.
to so _what.... there are plenty of bars that are law abiding that stay successful. cedars has been around for what, nearly 30 years, and they do a good job for a laid back bar. i go there a lot for shows and have seen many underagers thrown out.
