rangerhomey: It is not the players or schools fault the state puts them in Div 5. They would gladly play in D1 if they were allowed. The fact is their student enrollment is too low and the OHSAA has stupid guidelines for football. Ursuline plays D2 or D3 in every other sport and does well in those might I add. They won a basketball and baseball state title in recent years at those higher divisons.

He may be small compared to Ohio State standards, but Coach Tressel is missing on a great recruit who has HEART!. Something none of his current running backs have. OSU didn't recruit Brandon Beachum either and he will be a STUD for Penn State.

The area Cbamber of Commerce and or local restaurant owers need to get Guy Fieri to sample some Ytown pizza and food. As a fan of his show "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives", I get so upset that Ytown is never mentioned on his show. The Food Network tends to feature big cities that offer more vacation destinations than just food to their viewers, so Ytown gets forgotten. But great food should still get mentioned and Ytown deserves that. I've been living in Columbus now for 11 years and although there are great places to eat here, they cannot compare to the "dives", pizza joints and just great ethnic foods of my home town.

Okay. Calm down. I didn't say they played the best schedule in the state. I'm just comparing their schedules to other AREA play off teams. Either way, I'd like to say godd luck to all area teams and no matter how you qualified for the play offs, prove you deserve it on the field and make all of us Ytown people proud!

Alpha took the words right out of my mouth. I agree with all of that, but, I'd like to just add: I am a YSU grad and came to Ohio State for my post grad work. I am a Penguin and Buckeye, but, I have a sentimental place for the Penguins first being from Youngstown: If the administration can't see that Strollo has no vision for the football program and is content with the crap of a product that is put out there every year, then make a change. Don't worry about the last name "Strollo". They have no more power in the area. I look at a YSU team who does not even try to compete in the "big money" games whereas teams like Northern Iowa, App State, Sout Dakota State go into there games against BCS and or FBS schools with a mission to win and they come close or even win a lot of those games. However, we just go to collect a pay check. Getting the pay checks are fine, just do something with the money outside of adding a flag pole! Thanks Strollo. YSU has had more talent than I've seen in years, but we cannot compete. Let's just go back down to Division 2 or at least go up to the FBS level. At least at D2 we can win some championships if that's what you people want. And at the FBS level we can keep more big time local recruits, earn more money for both the community and the university by playing in bowl games and get more TV exposure. We accomplished everything at this level of 1-AA and I'm tired of seeing former 1-AA schools make the jump to the FBS level with success. Yea, we would take our licks for a few years at the FBS level, but, once a full FBS level recruiting class is in place with a coach like Bob Davie we can compete with anyone. If YSU is going to continue promoting football as it's sport of recognition, then REAL divison 1 sports such as the men's Basketball team will continue to suffer! If YSU is going to stay average in football, then take the "big money" game earnings and apply it to boost the men's basketball team, who folks, can actually compete at the highest level and make the NCAA tourny..... wow! Wouldn't that be a nice goal. Common, YSU. The tools are in place, help the only real money making D1 program we have... basketball

I respect all of your opinions and I am not about to get into an email grudge match with ringo. So, I will just make my point. I do not live in ytown anymore due to job opportunities, but, I still follow and support everything YO. The person upset Ursuline made the playoffs must be still upset about a past experience he can' t let go. To say Ursuline does not belong in the playoffs is ridiculous. They played one less game than everyone due to not finding a quality opponent in an upper division, they lost to Pennsylvania's top division defending and most likely repeat state champ, a top five D2 team in Mentor Lake and the #1 team in D3 and probably the best team in the state, Mooney. By the way, teams like Akron St. V's got in at 6-4 and does not play the competition Ursuline or Mooney play, teams like East Palestine had 3 losses and they are not a Catholic school but got in. I can go on and on, but, bottom line is if you are from the YO, enjoy the ride and support all area teams as I do. I hear enough negativety where I live about YO and to hear it from one if it's own is upsetting. And recruiting? Come on. Ever hear of "Open Enrollment" It's like that all across the state. Other area schools should be happy Ursuline raised tuition. Because Usruline has lost a lot of great players over the last several years to schools like Liberty, Hubbard, East and more I'm forgetting I'm sure.
