To Candy from Canfield, I work thru my lunch hour and that lunch hour can be anywhwere from 12-3 p.m. when I don't have a backlog of work or students in my class. Lunch hour today is from 1:15-2:15 p.m. And, if you are one of the supervisors of my supervisor - then you are a big part of the problem and you earn a heck of a lot more than my boss and certainly me.. Still didn't answer, sweet candy of
Canfield, why don't you support the community you live in with taxes for Youngstown School and eat in the downtown area. Well you probably have money to attend the Symphony. I don't.
I have never filed a grievance because my boss treats me with respect for my ability to do the job. I definitely earned the bonus.
To Pegunin Fan 1 - GM earned their bonus and extra crap - Give me a Break. They also make such an inferior car that it is ridiculous. Because we are a state job means we much be poor I guess, at least in your opinion. As for the shipping clerk - it does take a village and sometimes an army to educate people like you, I'll bet!
To YSUPenguin. I have a Bachelors and a portion of my masters from YSU; I worked in the public sector for a lot of years before coming to YSU and I definitely earn my money. If your ACE employees act like a bunch of malcontents, file a grievance and build a case for getting rid of them. Most administration past a dept. chair or direct supervisor at YSU is definitely part of the problem. We ALL should work for our students who are our customers.
Enough of this crap - lunch hour over.

One Last Thing. To Candy from Canfield - just where did you acquire your money to live in Canfield!!!!!! Live in Y-town like a lot of us do - then you can comment. Suburbanites like to sit back and bash anything and everything about the city. I bet you didn't send your kids to YSU - if you did, only after they flunked out of OSU! Blah! Blah! Blah!

Ok, I'm an ACE Classified worker at YSU. Did I anticipate this bonus - NO - did I even think much about it NO. But people, the University negotiating team signed off on this one. Hey, I guess it's alright for GM Lordstown to to get outrageous pays and fantastic benefits - everyone cries when they think GM won't get a new product...."oh how this will hurt the valley."
Well dear friends and neighbors, our kids are the most important asset we have in this region and YSU is a damn good place to educate them. When classified staff dies, or otherwise leaves the university - no one new is hired - nope administration just divides that person's work among several existing classified staff addiing to the existing worker's burden. That is the truth!!!!
I am not a huge Union fan, but I had no choice but to pay Union dues when I came to work at YSU. Students are Number 1 in importance to me. All workers, faculty included, are the least paid of all the state university employees. We get less and less state funding from Strickland and that is why tuitition was raised.
This valley is grossly undereducated. Many of our students are first-time college graduates from their families - and that is not degrading the laborers of our community; however, maybe the non college graduates don't understand that getting this education just may help the Valley's kids get a good job..
Don't cry to me about the money in our bonus - I deserve it and you would too IF you could get hired here. (P.S. You have to take a civil service test prior to being hired)!!!!

Here I am again; one of many ACE Union members that does not support what appears to be a 'crooked' President. I am ashamed to say I am in a Union if this is how we are represented. YSU administration does not have to bust the Union, Christine Domhoff and Ivan Maldonado and their henchmen are doing a great job of it all by themselves. Do your job and you generally don't get fired. First Union job I've had, and I only see the Union supporting the guilty, the lazy, and the whiners. People, life isn't fair, if you get treated unfairly or unjustly, get up and dust yourself off and get another job! At least you'll build character which is more than I can say for ACE Union leadership at YSU.

This is one ACE Union member from YSU that does not support Ivan Maldonado. And, DragonFly664, this guy has been controversial since before he became President of our Union. He gets over a 50% raise out of our last contract, hasn't paid into retirement (state) yet gets credit for it; uses tuition remission for his nephew (not allowed - only those children you claim on your income tax); oh what else, oh yes......he didn't intimidate just one person who is taking him to trial, but many others in the Union. Can you believe that while everything is in appeal, he has the "ego" to still run for Union President for 3 more years AND there are still people that support him! I am thrilled to work at YSU; these people that support him don't know how good we have it. I'll be a fair share employee and leave the Union if this guy gets re-elected.

President Sweet has admittedly done some good things for YSU - but the public does not know/or care about the outrageous waste of public monies for such items as the "President's medallion," "Mace," and the archway made for the centennial celebration and then scraped because Sweet didn't like it (Many $1,000s of dollars). He cannot and does not relate to the faculty, staff and students and is responsible for the "John Habit" fiasco and the political appointment of people like Hunter Morrison and Geoge McCloud. Postions were "just created" for people like these, they have no skill set for University employment. Perhaps the BOT would do the right thing and beg VP of Student Affairs (i.e. Dr. Cynthia Anderson) to become our next President!

The "Volt" is the car that will bring GM back to solvency. Are you kidding? I haven't bought a 40K car ever! Check the latest conumer guide on dependability for all cars currently on the market. GM has serious problems with those models it now produces; would it be any different with the new "Volt"?

How very sad to see our Union President in "jailhouse orange" and being arraigned in Mahoning County Court. Whether he is innocent or guilty remains to be seen - but he always was/is a bully and perhaps this time it caught up with him. The gal who filed the charges is a quiet, serious and competent employee at YSU.

This Union member has never supported the alleged "deals" made between Ivan Maldonado and Craig Bickley. He should have stepped down then! I know the individual who filed the complaint and she is a hard worker and honest. Again, this complaint is alleged so we will wait to see what happens. But, I can't imagine her making a criminal complaint if there were no grounds for it! It is no secret that this Union President has spoken to the Union membership as thought we were 3rd graders as he always chastised us at the meetings for one thing or another. Union Leadership like this is horrific and such a detrement to all of us who work for the students of YSU. Attempts to get Ivan to resign (by petition) fell very short as people "don't want to get involved." Wake Up YSU Classified employees! The only reason I remain in the Union is that I have to. YSU is a closed shop - you can opt out of the Union but still pay "fair share dues.

Yes, he should have known better. Yes, the girl should have known better too. It's a shame that a lapse in judgment by the young man could cost him his license and brand him a felon. But, background checks on this young man would have found nothing in his past. He is an excellent young man and teacher that unfortunately could not resist the charm of this particular young lady. Sometimes you just have to live and learn and the lessons can be difficult!
