I don't know where to start...first of all as a retired Postal Worker who worked on the Southside, most of the problems over there are the fact that when I carried mail in the late 70's..on Ferndale, Mistletoe, Avondale, Auburndale, Judson, Lucius, Boston, and all of the troubled areas over there, the homes were owned by elderly white people who had retired. Now that they have died, the family members (heirs) didn't want to be bothered with the property because they didn't want to live in Youngstown at all and now live in the Suburbs...Now the house is sitting there causing BLIGHT and no TAXES being collected so the city has to pay someone to tear the house down and because that takes time...the houses are sitting there being havens for drug activity, crime, rapes, we are finding dead bodies in these homes...Come on now...I've read all of the comments...lets call it what it is. As far as the drug problems....As an ex-addict...I know that most of the customers that come to Youngstown are from the Suburban areas and from Pa. They are white also...So before you want to put a "Monkey Cage" around the troubled areas of Youngstown....You Suburbanites need to #1. Come back to Y-town and look at the property that your lazy, sorry and irresponsible behind left because you moved so far out from Youngstown that you almost live in PA. and.. # 2. Keep all of your Junkies, Drug addicted people and Whores who come to make money in Youngstown and go back to their fine homes in Canfield with their mal-nurished children and 100s of neglected cats and dogs living in feces where the authorities have to tag their houses as unfit to live in...IT"S EVERYWHERE!!! I am ashamed of how we forget where we come from...If you think that the crime and all of it's glory is just in Youngstown You are an idiot!!! Get real people!!!!
