Post is a pathetic individual, but the fact that he is a criminal does not mean that he is "less than human" and not deserving of compassion.

Yes, I believe that I would want to "strike back" at the criminal, but that doesn't make it right or societally acceptable.
You talk about "justice" and "fainess" but life is unjust and unfair. Many commit heinous crimes and escape punishment and innocent people are pawns in some maniac's delusions - like last Friday.
I do value people's lives on this planet. I value that criminal's life, too.
As a civilized society, we have come way beyond "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth."

Obviously, I was talking about the Supreme Court's so-called "interpretation" of the Constitution - which includes evolving attitudes about the Amendments - beyond the strict language of those Amendments.
Andrew was taking an unrealistic, simplistic, reading of the 2nd Amendment - while totally ignoring Supreme Court interpretation, which is the law of the land.

Where does the Constitution guarantee the right to an abortion?

If all you can do is personally attack ulistenup in response to his/her arguments, save your trolling for another web site.
This letter was written at exactly the right time. You see - life is a continuum. It is wrong to kill children in the womb, after a failed abortion, or when they are 6 or 7. And I don't believe you respect Diane's position without respecting the letter itself. You must be a pro-abort, atheist, former Catholic, or all of the above.
Diane NAILED the issue exactly!
The nicest thing I can say about you is that you are disgusting.
Pro-birth is a sub-category of pro-life. If this is meant to be a criticism, I miss your point.
Great letter, Diane!

I am just a poor sinner, like the rest of us. As far as being a bigot, I don't feel hatred or intolerance towards anyone (love the sinner but hate the sin - just as Jesus does.)
This also addresses your "hypocrisy" charge.
I just get sick and tired of anti-Catholic rhetoric posing as "objective truths," when all they are - are someone's parroted opinions.
Bigotry against the Catholic Church is the most commonly accepted form of bigotry in today's society.

First of all, I simply don't agree with you - and I guess we can agree to disagree.
Second, you are a bigot. - defined by Merriam-Webster as "a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".
Third, I am personally offended by your remarks regarding the Catholic Church - as I love it and it is not only my Church, it is THE CHURCH.
By previous posts, it appears you are an atheist or a former Catholic. I pray that you have a change of heart.

"Had the Church taken as deliberate a stance against pedophilia as it does against gay marriage and abortion, then maybe their view would carry some credibility."
Bingo! The Church has always condemned pedophilia. Individual sins of certain Catholics (including priests) don't invalidate the Church's condemnation of all sin.
Your hatred for the Church is getting in the way of you responding sensibly on this series of posts.
