I thought about it.... the Market St. corridor is warm and inviting, oh wait a minute-not really,( I would like to go into that comedy club in the uptown area though, it looks like they would get some national acts);South Avenue from Midltohian into the city-many fine restaurants and nightclubs-no, not really (and inherently dangerous); Mahoning Avenue from the west side is just plain dirty (quite surprised the "Peanut Man" survived this long).
No not at all. Its not an acronym for anything. Youngstown is a giant blighted mess. Show me one nice area and I will change my mind. Again, its not like there is so much foot traffic from people coming to "destination youngstown" to spend an afternoon. Why would YPD waste their time to arrest people for civil disobedience-the jail cannot hold the criminals they do arrest.
Who cares. I dont really agree with the whole "occupy thing" but Youngstown to include the downtown area is a huge dump. Its not like they are causing the sidewalk and streets to look "trashy". Youngstown does that fine on its own.
It really doesnt matter if this issue should pass or fail. Does anyone really think that anything will change? One politician will not change anything good, bad or otherwise. Just another person in a long line of a "lotta talk" and do nothing and destroy everything in their path........
Oh yeah, I forgot about the schools...... Just the other day that fine young woman, earnestly doing her school work was tased for refusing to put her cell phone away. I am sure that was some intellectual conversation she was having with another fine student.
All the hype, crime summits, politicians, and police patrols will not change anything on the southside or anywhere in Youngstown. The city is way to far gone-no infrastructure, no development, mostly blighted areas and the people causing the problems simply do not care and have no desire to change-pretty sad to die for "claiming" a filthy street. I wish the police the best of luck though, they do their jobs. The courts mess everything up.
The southside is gone. No amount of police presence will clean the area up, planting community gardens certainly will not help. Juvenile delinquents are placed on probation with no real consequences, adult offenders are released from jail-again with no real consequences, but in reality the county cant keep them in jail due to the past federal overcrowding lawsuit. Sorry, but this area is one big mess..........
Seriously though, Is there anywhere left in the Youngstown Metropolitan Area that is truly nice? I know people always say "south of Western Reserve Rd." It is nice and quiet out that way but it seems like a far drive to get to a favorite restaurant or meet with with friends "in town" for an evening out.
