I have not heard any stories of lost limbs?? People cause the injuries that do happen. If they are not stupid about lighting them, there would not be any injuries. I don't agree that the sale of fireworks should be illegal in Ohio because some people are just stupid. People wish to celebrate their independence and should be allowed to do so. For those who don't.....try moving to a country where you have no freedom and make us all happy.
Unfortunately, when there is a accident involving a truck (semi), people 99% of the time assume it is the trucker. As in this case the man went to work and was hit by a drunk driver. It is as simple as that. If it were anyone but a officer, it would have rested there. Anytime a truck is involved in a accident, logs are checked, urine sample is checked and so on. If the trucker only had 8 hours off and not the required 10, it would be that he should have never been there in the first place, thus, lets blame the truck driver. That will never change. Hopefully, people don't succeed in blaming the truck driver in this case and site him for anything. And really, who cares about a "failure to yeild" that happened 3 years ago??? Does that mean that you never yeild now? Another attempt to "lets blame the trucker"!! Get over it already the officer was a drunk driver that chose to not wear a seat belt (which we would get a ticket for) and he was killed. This was preventable. The one's that get hurt the most is his two daughters and there is just no excuse for that!!!
First of all I would like to say how badly I feel for his wife and daughters. No matter how bad of a decision he made, his wife and children are left without him and I'm sure they loved him dearly. Second, there are people out there that have never drank and got behind a wheel of a car. I am one of them. I have been driving for 32 years and am proud to say I have never done such a thing and never will. I've had a few good friends die due to being hit by a impaired driver. Finally, I feel that the news media should make a appology to the truck driver. When this first happened, the automatic assumption was that the truck driver was at fault. People were made to believe that the truck driver drove into the direct path of the car and that is not the case. That poor man did nothing wrong. All he did was go to work and a impaired driver hit his vehicle. I'm tired of people automatically assuming the truck drivers out there are the ones that cause the accidents where in fact most of the accidents are caused by the cars around them. And no...I am not a truck driver. I do however see many cars daily that almost cause accidents with one. What is done is done and this poor family needs time to heal. Once again, my thoughts and prairs go out to his wife and daughters!!!
