I just read a recent report by Policy Matters Ohio on clean energy markets, entitled, "The Impact of IMPACT: Creating Jobs in Ohio." The report examines the impact of the proposed federal program, the ‘Investment in Manufacturing Progress and Clean Technology Act of 2009,’ (IMPACT), which would create revolving loan funds for small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms investing in energy efficiency or retooling to make products for new energy markets. PMO concludes that IMPACT could contribute to rebuilding America’s manufacturing muscle and that over ten years, IMPACT could create between 41,063 and 52,214 new jobs in Ohio.
This article reinforces the need for Ohio to implement policies benefiting working class families. I just read the report by Policy Matters Ohio, "Ohio Receives “C” for Financial Stability." Ohio earned an overall grade “C”, in the middle among states, for its policies and outcomes to support financial security.
I just read a report by Policy Matters Ohio related to clean energy. The report, "A Comparison of Climate Legislation Studies" took a close look at the top dozen current studies to try to make some sense of it all. They found legitimate and substantive differences in assumptions about key economic concerns. In effect, for every study that projects job loss, there is another that projects job gain.
This article reminds me of a recent report released by Policy Matters Ohio on charter schools, entitled, "Ready to Learn: Ohio assessment shows charters, magnets get head start." The report found that children entering charter and magnet schools in several of Ohio’s urban school districts performed significantly better on the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment-Literacy (KRA-L), which is taken as students begin school and reflects preparation for school rather than outcomes from school.
Ohio can be an export leader — again

So what’s wrong in Ohio?
