Warren man killed in Youngstown tonight

The scanner report said that there was a child in the house as someone was shooting at the house on Kimmel. That wasn't the only gun play tonight. Rapid gunfire call on Woodworth Rd. near Market St. brings police officers from Springfield, Boardman, & Beaver. Five gunfire calls in Youngstown, one consisting of 50 to 60 kids with guns running around in the street. It is amazing how OVERPAID these first responders are. They should have their rights stripped and their pay cut...

Several police departments quell fighting at Boardman mall carnival; one arrested

Myself, my wife and my two kids passed by the festival at about 8:45 Saturday night. The line to get in was from the hand stamp counter all the way out through the entrance. We looked in the festival and it was shoulder to shoulder. I scanned the people standing in line and I counted 4 white. I would guess as I looked around that it was 85-90% black and 10-15% white. Most of what I could see was 14-18 year old groups, not many moms and dads with their kids. We counted 1 sheriff car at the festival and 5 boardman cruisers in the mall parking lot as we left. We also saw at least 2 white families with young kids get out of their car to go into the festival and turn around and get back in their car and leave.

By the time we arrived at home, there was a call of a fight at the festival on the scanner and it quickly escalated to where the officers at the scene could not handle it. Another couple of minutes and all hell broke loose. There were people running all around the parking lots. There were other fights breaking out at Mens Warehouse and in the lot at Chili's. There was a YPD unit chasing someone behind the McDonalds across Market. One person was tasered. From what was on the scanner, Boardman asked for help from Beaver Twp, Canfield, OSP, Mahoning County Sheriff and all south units of Youngstown PD. Also, as the YPD units were leaving and going back into town after 10 pm, there were at least 2 calls of fights in gas stations or other lots on Market Street as the youths were going back home.

A violent scene on Youngstown's East Side early Sunday afternoon left one man dead.

Initial reports are that an unidentified man became violent in an apartment complex at 1093 East Way. He allegedly began shooting up the area while searching for an unidentified woman.

When he couldn't find the woman, he went outside brandishing the gun and threatened a pedestrian walking down the street.

Youngstown police responded to the 911 call and confronted the shooter. The man allegedly shot at the officer who then took cover.

Police said the gunman then got into a white SUV and attempted to ram the police officer. The officer shot and killed the suspect.

Our crew at the scene reports the gunman is slumped over behind the wheel of the SUV.
