hello, I am a very good friend of roxanne and would like to say a few words to many of you commenting. I see roxanne every morning in the school cafeteria and it is there that she has been filling me in on what has been happening this entire month or so. About a month or so ago she came in to the cafe and said guess what nick i got sent to the office for not standing during the pledge. I inquired as to why se did not stand and she told me she had recently learned that we dont have to stand and showed me the document that stated it. I was rather excited because i myself do not fully believe in the message the flag sends(i am atheist as well). I certainly mean no disrespect to the veterans of our country because i think we have alot to thank them for, but if you really think you are being patriotic by standing for 30 odd seconds a day then you should get a grip on reality and go volunteer at a vets center (there is one directly across from our school complex) but i digress. As i was saying, every morning she came in and told me she was sent to the office each day and i fully supported her as well as many of my friends by not standing as well. Recently she came to me telling me about the situation with the school and how they had to respect the students of the school. Soon before this however she came to me telling me of how she might get an interview with the vindicator but was not so sure as to wether or not she really wanted to do it. I was more excited for her than she was to be completely honest. Today i saw the paper and felt a great sense of accomplishment for people everywhere. In short roxanne is not an attention craver, is not a satan worshipper, and most defanitely is not in any way a copy cat. She is a good friend a someone willing to stand up for what she believes in and i thank her.
