Don’t bust a sag in Struthers

Dress codes can certainly be implemented and enforced in private venues, and including some public venues. It is not unreasonable to establish proper dress codes for the courts, governmental entities and others.

As far as on the public street, that may be a little more difficult. There is an eclectic sense of dress amongst the people. Some dress for attention, some dress for comfort, and some dress within their means.

As far as ''busting a sag” on the street, there are many things this can represent. One theory is it represents the individual's homosexuality and he is attempting to entice or solicit a partner. “Busting a sag” while incarcerated is exactly that!

Or, it could be that the individual is poor and cannot afford a belt; Goodwill can help with that.

Many perceived thugs or drug dealers up and about on the street corners often can be viewed “busting a sag,” but I say let them. It makes it more difficult for them to run from the police and easier to identify by their underwear of bright hues and classic designs.

Many other cities have enacted dress codes while in the public purview. The city of Struthers should follow-up with those cities and inquire as to any court challenges and how the ordinance was written.

Va. House approves anti-gay adoption rule

Great idea, because the current crop of heterosexual adoptive couples NEVER hurt the children and because we DO NOT HAVE tens of thousands of children still waiting to be adopted.
