It is easy to say no new taxes. Of course everyone would rather not pay taxes. It just depends on what kind of community you want. A safe, stable community does not happen magically. Many of these organizations, such as the library, have dealt with drastic budget cuts while demand for service is increasing. How do you stay within your budget then? You can't have it both ways. I want service and a nice community but I don't want to support it. I do wonder about school increases, though. Education, where most of our propoerty taxes go, hasn't taken many (if any) cuts that I know of on the state level.
What a STUPID decision!! Thanks Board who voted for this and wonderful (not) council woman! Way to see the big picture! Now the library is going to be in a deeper hole because of this and the West Branch (which is in terrible shape) is probably still going to close anyway. Even if money is raised for to pay for some repairs (unlikely) who is going to pay for the continued operating costs if it would stay open? Go use another library a few minutes away from you and get over yourselves!
Voters will see many tax levies on ballot
