firefly I applaud your comments. It is so heartening to hear some positive comments that reflect my own feeling of committment. The biggest thing we have to do to close the population gap is spaying and neutering. Everyone has been given the message, but many do not understand. We need massive education efforts to address animal issues. As Firefly says, the biggest part of the problem is HUMAN. We need it make spaying and neutering cheaper and more available. As I said, surely we can do better than a 70% kill rate.
Everyone has a right to his own opinion, but not to his own facts. The simple truth is that most of the negative "facts" cited above are simply false. I have volunteered with CLS, have donated money, and have adopted several cats from them. I have witnessed the caring and love our volunteers have given to cats in unfortunate situations. I know of many cats, including several of my own, who owe their lives to Kimm and her volunteers. There were NO dead cats found at the shelter during the raid. There was no freezer full of dead cats. These stories are sad fabrications. Yes, there were cats with nasal congestion. We don't think we need to kill cats because they have a cold. They were being medically treated. I know this for a fact because I observed it. It is true that Kimm left Angels because she disagreed with their policies - policies that permit a 70% or higher kill rate. Surely we can do better than that!
