I too am a graduate of YSU (c/o 2012) and from the above post I assume the complaint of WVK72855 is regarding the hikes in tuition. Let's remember that the Board of Trustees play a much higher role in these types of decisions, even more so than the President. The current BOT are know to be tyrants and often butted heads with Dr. Anderson. IMO, the largest problem at YSU lies with in the ranks of the Trustees. Granted, Dr. Anderson was an academic President rather than a business minded one and was successful in the realm of academics. However, in today's environment, education is much less about academia and more about business.
Please don't take this as a sarcastic comment because it is a legit question. How does being a "Right To Work" state bust unions? Unions still exist, people still have the choice to join or remain in one. If the unions are serving the needs of their membership, why would their numbers decline? I really don't understand the hoopla.
In your statement "I am worried about the long term future of this university and treatment of its main assets, which are students and faculty. People who fail to recognize that need to be worried too."
I hope you're not so delusional that you don't realize there are roughly 600 or so non-faculty employees at YSU. They are people we deal with on some of the most important tasks of our educational journey and they deserve all the same accolades and recognition as the faculty.
If the start of classes are delayed, what's the downside of a strike for the faculty? They'll still receive their full pay in the long run. What's the downside of a strike for the university if classes are delayed? They'll still receive their tuition and fee money.
Sounds like the only people who will be adversely affected will be the students! Thanks YSU, thanks.
Seems to me that sweet little Matthew and others on that bus need to be taught how respectful people act and that there are consequences to one's actions. Something that is clearly not being taught at home, so in a few years, I predict that the legal system will become the teacher.
As for the driver and assistant, they have the right to protect themselves. However, as adults, the language isn't acceptable.

Volatile crowd backs Austintown BOE member
Are the correspondence between the two publicly available? I haven't seen Mr. Porter's message or Colaluca's response.
