This was WONDERFULLY written. As a teacher at East High School, and an aspiring administrator, I cannot agree more with you that discipline begins in the home. It is unfortunate that many students lack parental guidance. They look for this in our schools with the teachers and administration. We need more support from the outlying community with these students. Just the visual presence in our schools can be a start. The community needs to pull together with the school district to help provide the substnace that is most lacking with the students... and that is the moral guidance and love that should be provided from the home.
