BEWARE of the violence among the youth too. Not just in high school, but grade schools too. My child was stabbed by a third grader last month. Problem still not resolved! My children are still being harassed. If offenders are not punished adequately and quickly enough, they feel entitled to cause more harm. The teachers have to participate in violence prevention seminars but they need administrators to bring down the law! In the meantime my children are still in danger and their offender can do what he/she wants and still get away with it. The violence will not end if these young offenders and their parents don't get mandatory counseling and rehabilitation!
Part of the solution to this type of problem needs to be preventing violence in children so they are less likely to grow up thinking it is okay to cause such grief in their city. My children have been seriously harassed for over two months now. School officials did nothing for the first several weeks. Last month my child was intentional stabbed by a third grader. Was a 5 day suspension enough of a consequence for this repeat offender? No! The harassment has not stopped and administrators have no solution. Administrators are working on it but my children are in danger! Why aren't school policies on harassment and bullying enforced immediately? The longer the aggressors get away with their behavior, the more they feel entitled to continue. The exact words from the offender "I can do what I want and get away with it". This is our city and our future if tougher legislation (even for young children) is not passed and enforced.
Be careful saying "There goes Youngstown again ..."
