City to fully demolish Paramount Theatre

Still remember seeing the "The Bridge over the River Kwai" there in mid to late sixties. This was the place to watch the latest "Blaxploitation" and Karate flicks. From Pam Grier's "Coffee" series to everything Bruce Lee starred in......Thanks for the memories.....

Planned Valley racetrack, resort unveiled

Please folks, we all know things have gone from bad to worse around here. But don't kill the dream or those that dare to dream. Good things can still happen in Youngstown. Seems that every time someone dares to think out of the box, a do nothing rises from his easy chair to his soapbox and starts taking cheap shots. If you aint rowing gobackensidowna.

Calling all Chevy Vega owners - tell us your story

Ah the Vega. I fell in love with a canary yellow notch back parked on the front line of a non reputable used car dealer. The year was 1979. I was a senior in high school. This would be my first car. There were at least 3 under dash fires. Numerous late nite tow ins, and countless days in the shop. This car ate through my parents bank account like a black hole on a planet devouring rampage. I installed a moonroof, C.B. and under seat cassette player. When she ran she was a chick magnet. The motor miraculously never ran hot, but the battery died regularly in winter. R.I.P. "Sweet Canary".

Ariz. sheriff: I’ll jail immigration protesters

All the darker skinned folks everywhere are grateful for the great Europeans, who come bearing disease, murder, and oh yea beads. Can't see how the world could make it without them. Again what was California and Texas before the invasion? Yea the Mexicans are mixed but I don't think they made a phone call to Europe asking to be conquered. These so called savages built great civilizations without any help from George Washington or his cousins. The Incas and Aztecs come to mind...I'm still waiting for an invite to the great west so that I can wait for the sound of the starter pistol and claim all that I can fence. Apartheid in America is alive and well..

Ariz. sheriff: I’ll jail immigration protesters

Lets see. The so called illegals were here in the Americas before the Mayflower or any other European conquerors even knew they existed. So Spain, England, and France in particular split up the booty and spread it out among their kind. They forced the indigenous peoples off the land or murdered them en masse. Then since they refused to work for free they imported so called Negroes to work the land and build the great empire we now enjoy today. The indigenous people are now told they are illegals in the land that was stolen from them....Hmmm.

Smoky Hollow rebirth

Wow...Revitaliztion....Forty years too late.....But I for one would cherish the opportunity to reinvigorate an historic in town neighborhood. Gotta start somewhere. Growing up, the city did not think enough of this neighborhood, or its residents to even pave the basketball court in this park. So if it rained, it was 1-3 days before we could play again. Even the so called projects had paved courts. I am still scarred, but hey..... Hate to see so many people discouraged about any attempts to jump start a bad situation. I think what has kept the Valley strong is the never quit attitude of the survivors. A groovy new place with verve, to live, shop, and party among like-minded people. Near an ever expanding place of higher learning, whose enrollment numbers are climbing each year. ......Could work...........
