City cop off the job for alcohol use

I'm glad that any of you don't make decisions concerning this situation. I had the pleasure of working with Off. Payne and he is a fine officer. We all have made bad decisions in our life and believe me, I know that this is a very, very serious one. But I do believe in allowing someone to correct their mistakes. There IS NO EXCUSE for this action, but I don't believe he should lose his job... Above and beyond this incident, he is a very good officer. Stop passing judgement on people when you don't know the whole story, and always, always try and put youself in their shoes. I bet my last dollar that if the tables where turned...you wouldn't be telling the world to fire YOU!

Chief, your right...I don't know you and you didn't know Kendal...so the same way that you say that I shouldn't speak on you is the same way that you shouldn't speak on him. The one thing about "service" wether it's in the armed forces..police dept, church, etc is that it never stops. Any time that we put a end to our "service"...then why were we truely serving in the 1st place. Some people look at the glass half empty, I look at it half full. Some people look at others and see all the bad in them, I look at others and see the good...know matter how little. So I say....No, I didn't think Kendal deserved to die that way, no matter what. All I ask that we not make light of others...wether in life or death. Picture how your family would feel if someone was making fun or your demise...be it by bullet, car accident, suicide, etc. Your are still someone's husband, son, brother, father, friend. I know your comment to this may be, well if you die, it won't be because of selling drugs or doing anything illegal...but the bottom line is your still dead. And someone can always find something negative to say. May God Bless you all!!!

That's funny that you would say that Chief 178, because I was a policeman in youngstown for 9yrs before moving out of town. My very first call of my police career was in 1992..a homicide that kendal was supposibly involved in. I'm not going to speak on if I think he was guilty or not, although I have my own thoughts. So believe me, I'm not like you...a person who sits back and talks about something that he's never witnessed or experienced. But let me ask you a question, what have you done for your fellow man lately, besides sit behind your computor desk and declare what is wrong with outside world. The one thing that I have a learned is to never judge...unless you want someone to judge you. You, in your secure world, never have to worry about anything bad happening to you because you don't put yourself in situations but I bet that your the one that sticks their middle finger up to soemone that cuts you off in traffic..that could be considered putting yourself in a bad situation if the person reacts negatively and follows you home or where ever your going. That may sound stupid to you, but understand that's how easy it is to lose your life...even in the suberbs. Everyone in youngstown is not lazy and on welfare, just like not everyone in Boardman or austintown goes to work everyday or is an upstanding citizen. I would never condone the sensless murders in youngstown, but i also do not condone someone saying that someone deserves to die because of where they live....Understand that you are only a pink slip away from the hood yourself!!!

It's crazy that some of you say what Kendal or others that have lost their lives to violence deserved. But then you say, I'm not judging them. They should have gotten a job, they shouldn't have been on welfare, they don't won't to work, they hung around with the wrong crowd, they lived in a bad neighborhood. But let me ask you a question...do you lie, do you cheat on your wife(adultery) or have sex outside of marriage(fornication), do you take a pin or anything from your job and thinks it's not a big deal(stealing). The bible says that "he who is without sin, cast the 1st stone". (Yes i can bring up God) Best believe that the same God that judges them will judge you... Probably one of the greatest things that God commanded us to do is to "Love thy neighbor as thyself". So I will take it that if you who take joy or make light of someone...anyones death, you must not love yourselves that much. Someone mentioned karma....I don't believe in karma, but I do believe that the very things that we make light of can eventually happen to us. Always....Always....Always....put yourself in someone elses shoes and I guarentee, that you will think twice before you say "they deserved it". Of course..this is to the people that have the capability and or the desire to have a heart. "By the grace of God there go I". U BETTER THINK!!!!

The crazy thing is, the people on this page really think that it's funny for a person to lose their life. I know Kendal, his mother, father and family. And it saddens me that someone sitting at a computer, could make light of the death of someone. Especially someone that you don't even know. Would you make light of the 13 people who lost their lives in NY. Understand that the same thing that you find funny, could 1 day happen to you. Imagine someone is reading your name in the paper, and you were shot and dumped in a lake. No one, and I truly mean no one, not even you in your sheltered, safe, ingnorant world, deserves to die like that. In our ignorants, we always feel that "this could never happen to me," until it does. Don't be cruel all your life!!!!! Andre'
