The school system determines the wealth in the community....period! Do doctors, lawyers, nurses, and GM workers (yes they still make obscene money too with NO education) want to live where schools are poor for their kids? Would you want to live in a school district in "academic emergency?" Next come police and fire in order of importance for anyone new to move to a community Good schools, good police/fire, good govt..it all goes hand-in-hand.............so....you get what you pay for...so pay them well and watch your neighborhood and house values keep out the undesirables !!!! PS. my new boss from Tenn said he picked to live in POLAND because his wife wanted the best schools for their kids...hell with the taxes! its for the kids!! How can some of you people sleep at night complaining of all things..schools?? Amazing.....
People, people....listen....if you can't afford to live in Canfield, Poland there are plenty of properties in Youngstown with higher school millage,higher school dropout rates, higher diversity and higher crime..right in your price range..and..and NEW school buildings all paid for by the State of OH! Oh.....Canfield and Poland don't get state paid new school buildings..only highest grad rates & awards....somebody is doing something right ...with alot less !! . The words "academic emergency" will never be spoken in Poland/Canfield...ever.. Go tell the police/fire to redo their government contracts...they will laugh at you idiot complainers.....remember "you get what you pay for" still rings true...
