This is proof that Austintown has alot going on for its residents and is a nice place to live. I have lived in Austintown and enjoyed it better than any other towns nearby. When I return to Ohio I will make my home in Austintown again. Sorry to have missed this event. Keep up the good work. Ann Varmus
Oh yeah, perhaps someone over there in the new offices can do something about the drivers disconcern for passangers safety? Oh and, can someone do something about how the buses breeze by white people waiting for the bus but stop on a dime for black people? Oh and yeah, can someone do something about the black passengers who ride free the same trip a white person without the money is turned down? Gee, you think the black drivers have a racial problem going on against white people? Ann Varmus
Its about time WRTA did something... the place always has looked like a dump site. To bad the attitude of the ignorant and dangerous teenagers that ride the buses can't be upgraded. Ann Varmus
Downtown Youngstown... you can't charge high prices at a place thats located in a low income area. People that live in the area can't afford to eat there. McDonalds and Taco Bell on Fifth Ave., seem to have no problem keeping customers because the prices there fit the surrounding community. Why do high prices have to mean class? People go where its safe, clean, reasonably priced, the foods good, the service pleasing. Thats what makes a business sucessful no matter where its located. Just ask Stapels. Ann Varmus
When is the responsibility going to belong to the parents and the students and not everyone else? The thing that is wrong with any school system is there is no indiviualized teaching accomplished. Students are forced to keep pace with a system that has nothing to do with the person, only the group. School should never be about competition but about learning at ones own pace and in ones personal field of strength and talent. It only seems easier to herd students into a classroom and demand as a group a set pace is kept but, all it does is make one student feel above another and another student feel beneath another. What learning is there in that? Learning is not a sport. It is a process of growth and information that prepares one for adult choices and levels. That is what education should be from first grade to the last grade. Ann Varmus
Aha ha ha ha ha. I always like to hear a good joke now and then and this article is one of the best heard yet. Not meant to reflect the work of the Youngstown Police Department; the officers work hard and at risk everyday to fight crime that riddles the streets of the city. Instead, ii is a reflection of the mamby pamby judicial system that puts criminals back on the street to commit more crimes and, does it frequently and easily. Ha ha ha. Marilyn
I could care less where students are classed, whatever building is fine with me. My concern is placing young students with high school students in the same building and, with students that are troubled. I have a problem with that. It doesn't work out in the regular school systems to place older students with younger ones. The younger ones always suffer at the hands of bullying older ones; It's a known fact parents come against to no avail on a daily basis. And you want to do it this way? Why? Hasn't the " Board" seen enough hurt in the Youngstown School System already or doesn't the Board care about anything but placement for funding? Shame on all of you who took part in such a calloused decesion. Marilyn

The city finds money for everything else including new buildings downtown which is the last thing the city needs... but, a youth center? Come on, our teens need something more to do than walk the streets in droves and get into trouble. The city should be doing everything in its power to help establish a place for our kids to go and have a good, safe time. That is and should be a priority, not how preety downtown can be made. Face it, officials you need to prioritize... no one is coming back downtown with its outskirts crime ridden and dangerous to pass through to get to downtown and want to stay there. Fix whats broke and then it may be possible to get people downtown again. In the meantime, give our kids a place to play and to congergate where adults who care are watching over things and keeping it all good. Wake up, city planners and get a clue for Gods sake/ Marilyn
