The above lengthy "comment" is complete BS. There is no one at the pound who would even remotely have said any of those things. I have volunteered there for the last 5 years, all through the wonderful improvements that have been made, including getting rid of the gas chamber. They WANT the dogs to get adopted....and most do. others go to rescues. the adoption fee is $20. the mandatory dog License is $14. there is no other expense. ($400-$500??!!!!) there is a spay/neuter contract that is signed saying that the new owner agrees to get the dog altered within a reasonable amount of time after adoption.....at the vet of their choice. We always give information on low cost spay/neuter in the area (which ranges from $85 to $100), since most people want that info. there has been one area vet who caused many problems for dogs from the pound, and people are told that in order to save them some grief. This person obviously has problems, so please do not listen to this ridiculous commentary. You can talk to HUNDREDS who have adopted from trumbull, who are thrilled with their dogs, and with their experience. They even offer a wonderful "foster to adopt" option, so that you can see if the dog is a good "fit" for your family before finalizing the adoption. I hope this person stays away, as the dogs don't need this negativity, and neither do any of the staff or volunteers.
Thank you for giving airtime to Nitro's Law, HB 108. OHIO needs to wake up to the ridiculously lax and lenient 'slap on the wrist' punishment for gross animal cruelty in all it's forms. What is especially repugnant is a person who purports to be 'an animal lover and rescuer' who is the chief abuser........
