If everyone's home values have gone down, then the amount the levy will impact your taxes will be decreased. The only way to keep the hood from creeping into Boardman is through a strong educational system. As our educational system degrades so does our community and our home values. It's hard to believe that for less than $10.00 per month per $100,000 home value that anyone would argue. The degradation of our school system would impact your home value much more than $10.00 per month. I can think of 20 ways to come up with the extra $10.00 per month that would be required for the levy. I'm from a maternal first generation family with a father who always regretted not furthering his education. Education is very important to my family, my community and my country. My siblings and myself hold advanced degrees with successful careers due to good supportive parents and a very strong public educational base. It's very wise to invest in our educational future now or our real future will be in doubt unless we invest in educating our children.
No criticizing by me, and I have given good advice to the people in question. Both parents and children must spend their time educating themselves. They must support, protect and oversee every aspect of the important educational process. They must speak with the teachers, go to PTA meetings, utilize tutors, use our library system, tour YSU in order to get the feel of the educational environment, join scholastic clubs and promote and reward educational milestones. This must be done in order to get out of the blight of the inner city or be able to help others in the future survive the inner city. This must be done or stories like this will always be a part of life in the inner city. An educated individual is a powerful force which will prevail and set you free of the problems of our current inner city environment.
One clue to a kid's character-the father was part of a robbery gone bad in which he lost his life. The old saying applies here: "The apple does not fall far from the tree." A child grows up to be similar to its parents in both behavior and physical characteristics. In other words, he was a product of his family, neighborhood and social interactions. We must educate educate educate with both parents on the same education path or this will happen over and over again.
Hey people, just because the drilling was stopped the day before does not mean the cause still does not lie within the drilling process. The relief of the water pressure between the plates does not disappear for days to weeks after the injection date. The water does not just disappear into thin air. Common sense tells you that when you try and force something into a space for which it was not originally intended negative results may be produced. We need the oil and gas, but we must figure out safe, effective and efficient ways to accomplish the extraction of the resources and disposal of the toxic biproducts. We need to slow down and come up with a smart plan because the gas and oil deposits are not going anywhere.
Issue 2 is important for Ohio, and it must pass, and Shiavone just got his ass handed to him to him on national TV. He could not explain what part of Issue 2 that was bad, except agree with all of the points brought up. He only could say there are other parts which matter but every point brought about the issue he fully supported. This big push against issue 2 is a last ditch effort of the unions to make a last stand, and if they are successful in their sham, it will put many cities and townships out of bussiness. The big union heads are fat, rich and laughing all the way to the bank while working class individuals pay big $ every week to support these crooks. Unions are out of date, and they will be the reason we'll lose many more jobs than they ever...ever created. Issue 2 gives elected local leaders a chance to attract business, reduce taxes and save what we have. Wake up people, there is no more money to go around. Cuts must be made or they will be made for us by necessity. You wait and see what happens if Issue 2 fails.
It's one thing as a landlord to maintain and beautify our rentals for tenants to rent. However, when most of the tenants either tear the place up, use it for drug sales or just don't pay the rent, we get frustrated to the point that we will let those types of people live in their own environment they have created. I'm not a social program for all these deadbeats, so when I'm tired of re-rehabbing these homes I'm going to sign the home over to the last renter and say good luck it's yours. Sure I make some money, but I'm not putting 100% of the rent $ or more back into the homes anymore. Let them live in fealth because these people seem to like it.
It's funny how a lot of the courses given in college for teachers are at lower levels than for other professions. You would think for such an important job as a teacher, colleges would require students take top level courses along side your doctors, engineers and lawyers. However when I took a physics class, my teacher friends took lower level physics, chemistry, biology ect. They boast about having all the holidays off, great health insurance, summers off and easy extra money in coaching sports they never played as a child. Yes, many of our teachers are overpaid within the collective bargaining agreements while our education system is still subpar compared to other first class countries. We are out of money, we cannot continue to pay the same wages bottom line. If we don't break these contracts, the Fed. govt., state and local govts. will have to lay off people to make up the difference. We can adjust our retirements, salaries and healthcare or many will be laid off to make up the difference. We must just face it, our country is in dire economic straights, and change must occur or bigger consequences loom in the near future. The people must not believe it's coming because I still see big SUV's, lines for the newest cell phones and video game while endless workers are busy texting, sexting, playing on facebook or scrolling through endless pages of nonsense on the internet instead of working. I'm off the clock now, but I wonder how many are currently on the clock reading the Vindy online and making comments instead of working. Makes you wonder if our heads are really in the game of getting our country back in the right direction or are we just sports fanatics, video playing fools, facebook bums or texting machines???
We need to lose the union control and its money sucking ways. If it worked so well all these years looking out for the working man, why didn't they keep our jobs here in the U.S. The unions seemed like they were doing oh so much for the working man during the good times, but it's easy to look good when the economy is great and money is plentiful. However, the true value of any entity is how they work and survive during tough and difficult times. As the economic times grow more difficult, the strength of the unions are evaporating. It's like listening to Jim Trafficant talking about how much he brought to the valley, when any educated politician doing their job would have brought the same or more help to the valley without all the BS, crazy talk, kickbacks and mafia associated crap. The unions are done because they have to work with little or no funds, and they were only in the game for the money and power. We better get used to it, and the working man needs to use their brain, work harder, take care of their health better and save more money for the future while spending less on needless material junk. America's strength was built on each individual doing more than their fair share without complaining and without worthless caretakers (unions) looking out for us just to take money from us and blackmailing big corporations for millions of dollars. Enough is Enough!
Unfortunately as incomes and revenue go down in a community, crime inversely rises in those same communities or cities. None of us want to increase our monthly or yearly expenses, but as crime increases your insurance premiums go up, home values go down, people move out of the area and schools are affected. Also, security systems are expensive and quality guns for home protection are major investments for the guns themselves plus training and license to carry. Bottomline, I'll sacrifice a few trips a year in order to pay more taxes for police. It's not pleasant, but so are ignorant criminals on the street.
While the city of Youngstown had some other issues along with increased crime which caused a mass migration to the suburbs, its ultimate demise was due to the fact that large portions of neighborhoods experienced a mass simultaneous exodus of its core residents. The old war tactic of divide and conquer holds true in the degradation of city neighborhoods. If we don't stand up together and fight for what we believe and appreciate, we will lose it. I feel confident and encouraged that if we continue to work together to seek solutions, we'll strengthen our great neigborhood. I'll be more than happy to employ my personal time and money to insure that goal is achieved. Thanks Vince, Susan and Mr. Pesa.
