Concerned parent: Canfield cuts unprofessional, distracting

@iBuck We agree completely! We know exactly why he went into the schools during the day to give teachers their pink slip. Effect!! They knew the kids would come home and tell their parents. Hence, hoping the parents would feel bad and vote for the levy. Yea right! We know them to well I'm afraid. All this tactic did was hurt teachers and very young children.

Canfield residents pack meeting; call layoff notices 'unprofessional'

@DOLE2
I'm sorry to hear that you feel it's ok for 10 and 11 year olds to bare witness to their teacher losing their job. That's pretty disturbing!
As for the "Chinese Program", that program was only offered to a handful of select students in the school. That's just the way our 'unprofessional' superintendent rolls. Be glad you don't live here!

Concerned parent: Canfield cuts unprofessional, distracting

@ ValleyNative

There are hundreds of Boardman residents who attend the Canfield schools and pay the tax levy. Ex: Lockwood Village, Sherwood Forest and Windle Hills developments, just to name a few.
Also, it was recommended by the public that the levy be reduced. The Superintendent, Business Manager, Treasurer and some Board Members (not all) said no.
Lastly, the levy isn't going to pass!!! Given how he has mismanaged our money and how inhuman he has behaved we aren't voting for the renewal either. He can "Do More With Less" as he always says. While he still has a job that is!

Valley language courses reflect China’s growing clout

OK people here's the truth. Canfiled decided to offer the "Chinese Class" to a handful of pre-selected students. These students were chosen by their teachers. Now, I have a straight "A" student who wasn't given the opportunity. Canfield does what it always does. Waste time, money and resourses on a select chosen few! In the meantime all of our seventh and eighth graders are sitting in music/band seven to eight periods per week. Hmmm....even Obama said "schools need to be focusing on math and science". And that man is an idiot!!!! They can shove the "Chinese Class" right up their ass!

Canfield teachers, workers to be laid off

@loaf1
They did cut bussing for the high school, pass or fail and are going to "pay to play" sports. We don't care. We're not passing until they get a new super. It might surprise people to know that we never saw anything for the money that we did have. Just used computers, dated books, run down schools and a whole lot of dittos!
BTW... our teachers didn't take a 1% pay cut this year. They took a 1% less pay raise. They were supposed to get 3% and instead got 2%. The administration also saw their 2.5% raises. This took place in July 2010, you know, right before they announced that we were in trouble. REALLY?

Canfield teachers, workers to be laid off

I would like everyone to know how are idiot superintendent decided to let go of the teachers. On Friday, February 11, 2011 he decided to let the teachers go during the school day. These teachers were still working and the children were in the classrooms. Obviously the teachers had a little trouble composing themselves and the children saw them distraught and crying. Brilliant, just brilliant!! What kind of sick, inhuman person does that? Now alot of us aren't voting for the renewal levy either. Way to go you freaken moron. Either you go or we will watch the disctrict go under! Oh, as for southside dave, you can pay the almost $1000 more in taxes for me. You know, to keep the school in tact!

Canfield voters to decide on two levies

I think it's time the parents in Canfield stop hiding and tell the board the truth, we want the superintendent gone. He dismisses EVERY parent complaint or issue and then lables them a "troublemaker" for coming to him in the first place. Maybe they would have more money if they didn't spend so much in legal fees for the lawsuits they have against them. Get rid of him and his sidekick and maybe we'll "Show You The Money". The man was never qualified in the first place. He got the position based on some petition. His controlling personality, arrogance and lack of qualification has now destroyed an entire school district and community. No one trusts him or the school board. We are sick of him waving his "Excellence" award in our face. Guess what? The other schools have the same award and it's cheaper to live there. There is documented proof that he repeatedly tries to "strong arm" parents, teachers and the like! We have been living in a dictatorship for the last eight years. Until you get rid of him you can suffer like the rest of us. And by the way, the average home price in Canfield as of Jan. 19, 2011 is $239,560.00. How about if you calculate that on the stupid literature you send out. Another thought, how about if you let the parents know how much money you decided to pay for that "energy program" to teach you how to turn off lights and lower the heat in the schools. You send letters home to parents letting you know someone has "Pink Eye" but you can't send a letter home letting them know you lowered the heat in the school so they could dress their children appropriately. I bet the teachers would like to know as well. Leave the teachers alone and find another way to save a buck.
