To me, the billboards are a reminder that we're so immersed in our argument culture that we're always looking for reasons to fight...even when they don't really exist.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, whatever, well wishes from others are gifts, and we should think of them that way.
If it helps, a friend told me yesterday that the billboard ladies are very nice women who are involved in actual philanthropic works :)
I always thought that "Happy Holidays" was intended to encompass New Year's as well as Christmas. It wasn't until Bill O'Reilly started this war on Christmas nonsense a few years ago that people started interpreting "Happy Holidays" as anti-Christian. Any blessings or good wishes should be accepted with gratitude. That is the spirit of the season.
That is good news about Chaney, and I hope it, and the recent state award to the East High English teacher, are previews are more to come from Youngstown schools. Thanks for drawing much-needed attention to the good news. Sometimes it seems that it's not a matter of what ytowners want to see so much as what we refuse to see or that lens through which we choose to see.
I support the Stonewall Community Center and its mission. Keep the faith. There are many heterosexual people in our community who truly love and value all of our friends.
I agree. Forget the labels. What is clear from these numbers is that we agree in more ways than we disagree. Thanks for the timely call to focus on our commonalities instead of our differences. Enjoy the sunnier climes!

You're gonna get it for this post!
I, for one, completely relate, but I'm also a peace-loving, liberal, leftist, commie, tree-hugger type ;)
Who do you think will come in first with the Barack Hussein Nobama chatter? Any guesses?

As a child, I used to live at the bottom of dead end street. It was nice not having to worry about getting run over by cars ;)
Peace and joy to all this holiday season! Here's hoping you are safe and happy. Cheers!
