An equally horrible choice for YSU President was Cynthia Anderson. The university was absolutely on "cruise control" during her three years in office. Not one single, let me repeat that, not one single university advancement can be placed to her credit.
Add the year of search before her appointment, the months of search after she left, and Dunn's "space walk"....YSU has been absolutely leaderless FOR OVER FIVE YEARS.
And the blame can only be placed on the most inept Board of Trustees in the the country. Honestly, when Garg gets in front of a camera, I can only hang my head in shame for all the really good things happening in Youngstown outside of what has become "the joke on the hill."

Moffie...how many times must we suffer you trolling your same old line?
Please...illuminate us all on the vast contribution you have made to enhance the fabric of our city, community or region.
Oh...and typing the same worn out droll from your keyboard certainly doesn't count.

Oh...now the BoT is "unhappy" and no longer "understanding" of Randy and Rhonda.
I'm sorry, and I hate to indict a group of people not knowing their individual feeling, but as a group, this BoT are freaking idiots.

Dunn's departure signals that the SIU's Board of Trustees is more than willing to employ a morally bankrupt, self-centered, opportunist as its "leader".
I have nothing but pity for the SIU student body and faculty.

I think this as a fantastic idea, but let's draw on the wisdom, experience and resources of an expert organization so that we do it "right".
I would urge those involved in the East Side project to contact the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, headquartered just an hour or so away in Moreland Hills, Ohio. They have a proven history and a national reputation for successfully managing and optimizing projects just like this.
If you need help in contacting the leadership of this organization, post your contact info here and I will see that the introduction is made.

When you are entrusted with a public asset... local government, a school, a non-profit, a hospital and most certainly a university... the only leadership that is acceptable is that of the Servant Leader. The leader who puts his or her needs, desires and wants subordinate to fulfilling the the needs, desires and wants of those the institution is chartered to serve. That is the very definition of PUBLIC institution.
That is not the definition of the PRIVATE sector nor is it the role of leadership in that space to be a servant.
Todd, you confuse the two and give Dunn a pass because of it. He doesn't deserve it any more than he deserves to lead a public institution. What he did was completely selfish, driven by greed and the need for personal power, totally reprehensible and morally dishonest.
Or, in Valley talk, he's a lying piece of scumbag sh!t who needs his a$$ kicked all the way to SIU.
I get the anger. So should you.

Garg and the Board can "spin" this any way they so wish, but Dunn's conduct in this matter is reprehensible.
And to publicly thank him for his "seven months of excellent work"....are you freaking kidding me!? Seven months!? Seriously, would they care to elaborate what that excellent work specifically was?
And does the Board REALLY believe that they will get ANYTHING out of Dunn for the next 180 days? Erplane is right, he will be totally focused on SIU 24/7.
We already know that Dunn is all about Dunn and nothing else. He has absolutely no concept of servant leadership, which is the only leadership of a university that is acceptable when one takes on that role.
So Dunn, just resign. I really don't want YSU to pay you t`o work for SIU.
And if you won't do that, post your appointment schedule on line for transparency, along with the benchmark metrics you are hitting each day that align with YSU's Strategic Plan.

Agreed...this is completely classless. Wasn't he a member of the Rotary Club which has a motto of "Service Above Self"?
Nothing could be further from the truth with Dunn. It was all about him, will always be about him.
You got yourselves a real "winner" there SIU. Good luck.
