Do any of you really know what really happened? All of you are assuming that what happened was a criminal act on the part of Duane because of his prison sentence. The only ones who really know what happened are Duane and the person who shot him and God. Why don't all of you get off of your "high horses" and come down to reality. Someone said the "system" isn't racist. Well, I beg to differ. It is racist. I've seen a lot and I know a lot. The newspaper is also of the "racist" kind. There were 3 people killed in two weeks. Why was the "white" man's story on the front page, but Duane's was on the third or fourth page. Unfortunately, it does and is happening. I know because I am white and married to a black man. I see it all of the time. I see how people treat me before they find out that my husband is black. I see how they treat my biracial children. It is 2011, people have more rights and more freedom, but racism is still alive and rampant in our United States. Many of you are very cruel with your words and don't even know Duane. I happen to know him very well.
By the way, to the person who was talking about the proofreading, get a life. You just showed how selfish and self-centered you are. There is a lot of information missing from all of the articles about Duane; however, no one has ever asked what type of person he was. Everyone just assumes that he was this horrible person. All that is cared about is his release from prison. He didn't make that decision, the parole board did. Leave Duane and our family alone so that he can rest in peace and so we can grieve in peace.
I agree. What uncaring individuals to say such horrible things. No one knows the circumstances as to which his life ended except him and the person who did it. People are quoting the bible; however, just remember, every sinner has a past and every saint has a future. If Duane was a family member of one of the "cruel" individuals who wrote such horrible things, how would you feel. Obviously the people who wrote these horrible things didn't know him. I did because I am his aunt. Why does he have to be a thug. Was it because he spent time in prison? Was it because he made mistakes in his life? Since people want to quote the bible then let me tell you this, Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Duane was loving, kind, caring, and a good person. He was loved by many and will continue to be loved and remembered.
I don't know who wrote the comment about "some where down the line they are indeed related to each other" is stupid. Just because someone is MURDERED and has a background doesn't make them related. You don't know Duane and obviously don't know the others either. Just remember, every sinner has a past and every saint has a future. You're just like everyone else that thinks that because you did something wrong, you are not a good person. Duane was a wonderful person and was loved very much by many. For you to make such an assumption makes you an unintelligent and cruel human being.
