If we eliminate the small stuff the the larger crimes will start to go away. More then likely the gunmen already has some type of record. If we would have kept him in jail he wouldn't of been able to do this. All of the juviniles that are commiting robberies and petty crimes are doing nothing but growning into older more experienced criminals. Make a example out of them. If enough young men and women are forced to pay the price for their crimes as well as the parents that have no control held responsible I would be that at some point someone is going to take notice that they are not and will not get away it it. No more excuses...I don't care how down and out and poor you are there is NO EXCUSE to commit a crime. We all have family memebers that have come into this country with a lot less other the pride and they worked hard and prospered with out taking what they wanted unlawfully.
Hopefully now that we finally have a new Mayor he will realize that we need incresaed spending and support of the Youngstown Police Department and the jails... We have already tried assiting and rehabing. Now it's time to rot in jail. If you do the crime you must do the time!! It's nothing more then a joke now. They all know they will just get off and released from jail due to over crowding. We need increased police patrols and funding to hire more officers to patrol the streets!
I think that Wick can be a wonderful asset to residents in that area as well as all of the YSU students that live so close. I am VERY excited to hear our new Mayor has a focus other then furthering his own career....We need to start somewhere to clean up this city and it has to start now!! Why would any hard working, tax paying citizen want to invest in a house that will have no real value when you have neighbors that cant even pick up the trash or cut the grass?!! I don't care how poor or down and out you are you can still pick up trash, wash off dirt, cut the grass and pull out the weeds!! All of our ansestors that came to this city came here with a lot less then we have available to us now and they lived with pride for the little things they had!! Hard work and pride is what grew this city and we need to get back to that!

Wick Park a focus of Youngstown administration, groups
