How can you expect others to change their opinion of you when you only have negative things to say about this area yourselves? Perhaps the people that live here should stop all the trash talk. As always, there are those that do and those that just sit around and complain. There are many people in this community actually doing something to create a improved enviroment. Instead of complaining about the way things used to be get up off your derriere and do something. Change your story-change your life!
Great article. It's nice to see you folks step up and speak positive about your community instead of the extremely negative talk you frequently get about this area. P.S. Hey Vindicator these are the type of stories that we need to read.
How about putting in sidewalks on the main streets? That would provide more foot traffic for businesses and also increase community connections. Maybe the chamber wants to take this issue on to support their local businesses?
The chamber should be a non partisan group based on the fact that it's members are politically diverse and that they are as Wikipedia describes: a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the interests of businesses. However, it seems that their main concern is always "landing the big one' which happens what every decade or so. Why are they not supporting more of the local small businesses that by virtue of their dues pays the salaries of said chamber officials. Of course bringing in a big business to the valley is worthy of celebrating but what about the storekeeper/business owner that has been in the valley for years, has paid his chamber dues and gets no recognition or attention from his own local support group. Have you driven down RTE 224 or Market St. lately. Empty storefronts and office space everywhere. I see this and I ask this question. Where is my local chamber and what are they doing to resurrect this area? Come on Tom Humphries tell us where you are shopping.
Congratulations to Mr. Metzinger and Mr. McGowan. I can say from personal experience that Youngstown/Warren Executive #408 has some of the best speakers in the area. Whether you are currently interviewing or have a big presentation to give Toastmasters is a great resource for any one seeking to polish up on their speaking skills. You also gain experience and knowledge in leadership, evaluations, management and networking. Good luck and hope to see you at the area contest. C. Young
