Bishop Murry’s letter appalling

I am a Lutheran. I agree with Westsider. It is called separation of Church and State! Why do you think Rabbis and other religious leaders have joined the Catholic Church in protest.

Who most deserved to be fired in the wake of the Penn State University/Jerry Sandusky molestation case?

One of my friends put the whole Paterno thing into a perfect perspective for how I feel about the whole situation.... here it is: "If a man has the ability to put out a fire and save lives, does he do it? Or does he tell a friend about it and leave it up to him?" That says it for me, too.

All of the above is my choice.

Sherrod Brown: Debt default would devastate Ohioans

Just seems too simple to me....put Congress on SS and Medicare with the rest of us, raise the threshold on SS to the first $200,000 of earned income, reduce foreign aide, reduced fraud and waste in SS & Medicare, change Federal Income Tax to a flat 10% of income, no loop holes, everyone pays. Save America.

Start class-action suit against US

Some very good points are mentioned here. We need to cut waste and fraud in SS and Medicare. Several studies show hundreds of thousands spent in the last 3 months of a persons' life on needless testing. Raise the SS threshold to $200,000.00. Foreign aid definately needs cut. Federal income tax at a flat 10% no deductions, everyone pays. This is all fair to everyone, no special interests!

Officials to seek help on airport goals

Whatever happened with John Boccieri getting Continental Airlines to use the airport as it's maintenance center? If I remember it was the close location to the hub in Cleveland and the amount of space available vs New Jersey?

What we buy makes a difference

JME, I agree that they employ Ohio workers and that Ohio workers do play the same taxes as you and I BUT Honda does not pay the same Ohio taxes that GM pays in Lordstown, nor the same federal taxes.

What we buy makes a difference

Sorry JME, although Honda is in Ohio they are not a US company. They do not pay the same taxes to Ohio or to the US government as GM or any US company. All profits are going to Japan. I agree with remember Pearl Habor.

New Middletown vote has greater potential

Hats Off to Todd Franko for expressing what I have been expressing for several years! As a taxpayer in Springfield Township, I agree that it is long over due to have a fire district and a police district for both the Village of New Middletown and Springfield Township. With the cost of every piece of equipment today, we need to use our tax dollars as wisely as possible. The fire chief's retirement is a perfect reason to revisit and bring forth these districts. NOW is the time to set down and work this out, putting aside diffrences for the good of the tax payers.
