In addition to their parents paying for the damage, the vandals should have to work every day helping to repair the property until all of what they've damaged it completely fixed.
Wow! Althought there are 3 sides to every story, the parents should feel terrible for the position this child was put in. No child should ever feel they need to protect a parent - ever. The parent's need to protect that child from ever feeling insecure. Maybe it's late but, they should seek counseling to ensure this child's anger/fear is funneled positively rather than resorting to violence.
I'm sure this is a case of someone discarding a pet that got too large to care for - ignorance, really. I understand keeping the community safe but, why couldn't the animal have been tranq'd and taken to a zoo? Maybe the area doesn't have the funding but, shooting the animal for being at the wrong place, wrong time - and not being at fault - certainly doesn't make sense.
Truly a sad story. Look at those eyes... Unfortunate as this case may be, he's in the best place now and may have a brighter future. He's not on the streets, he's clean & being fed. Hopefully, he's honestly trying to beat his odds of becoming another victim of this city. I wish him the best.
What a shame! What a waste of an education! Knowing this student prior to becoming a teacher - not an excuse. He's in a very influential role, here. Early 20's? She's 17!!! Revoke the certificate & let him pay for that education with his McD's salary. How sad.
I agree with you. There are many no-kill shelters out there but, they must disclose what has happened. Many folks looking to adopt may be reluctant because of the incident; leaving the poor dog without a family. If there's someone without children and without planning on having a family, it would be wonderful if they could adopt it. Very tragic accident. My thoughts are with the entire family - including the dog.
Unfortunately, this happens much more than we ever hear about it. It happen to my grandmother years ago after her house caught fire and her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. A 'girl' came into their home to care for him while he was bedridden and heavily drugged. The company was costly to my grandparents so, the girl offered to work 'privately'. It was a deal to my grandma... And a STEAL for Kelly Casey. Can you imagine the violation my grandma felt when she walked into the bank to pay on a Security Deposit Box to find thousands of dollars gone? We were blessed with never having to explain this to her husband who died shortly after the discovery. Prosecutors took the case and we never found out what happened to the thief. Did she get to keep the car she bought with my grandma's money? The furniture in her Poland home? Be aware of those taking care of your loved ones. Question EVERYTHING! If you're a neighbor, BE NOSEY!!!
