Saving someone from the flashing lights

Great commentary! I thought the flashing light thing was a warning that an animal like a deer was crossing or near the road. Either way I slowed down. As far as neighborhood speeders -- I too get pretty upset at them especially when I'm out walking my dog. Thanks for demonstrating that 5 mph over does make a difference. I've placed a bright orange construction cones in the middle of the street in front of my house to slow them down when the neighbor kids are out playing. It seems to work.

Poland to appoint panel for advice on drilling

The gas companies say there's no surface impact because they drill very deep and horizontally. But they don't tell you about the other surface impact --- the 24/7 trucking needed to remove the toxic water, sludge, gas and whatever else they need to truck to and fro. It is around the clock trucking -- yes, 3am you'll hear the trucks. I would hate to see the quiet Village of Poland invaded by 24/7 gas company trucking for years and years. Imagine seeing large heavy noisy trucks continuously (and I mean continuously) carrying toxic water, sludge, gas, and whatever else through your streets where you and your children used to enjoy walking. With all that trucking you can count on an overturned truck periodically.
If Council does go forward with drilling I hope the lease addresses the trucking impact on the village.
