I agree with both the above comments. Hate to be a fence rider but the day the unions breathe their last breath is the day America dies. I can't see them disappearing. Maybe they do need to do a better job at obtaining contracts. Give the jobs to the locals only by contract. It's the fair thing to do.

The best punishment for this POS would be life in solitary- with one meal a day. Lack of food would be punishment enough for his 500 pound butt.

Bet so too. Seems to be an unlucky name around here.

I agree with Walt. Yes they broke the rules and yes they should be punished but these kids are probably good kids who made a mistake. Don't blame Jim Tressel. The man is trying his best. He can't be everywhere. I wouldn't want his job. Let the courts handle this.

How many of the school board members have a degree in education? How many of them have a degree in ANYTHING???? The inmates are running the institution.

Of course certain Youngstown School Board members will complain because they feel no one can do the job better than them. Their limited educational levels and egos have put the city schools in such distress it will take decades to fix. They chased out Connie Hathorn and they will try everything in the book to fight the state now. The bottom line is that kids aren't doing well because there is no parental involvement. Dad is long gone and mom has moved on to the next loser. Kids don't have any role models. Couple this with inept board members and it's the perfect storm for failure.

I can never thank Fr. Tim enough for what he has done for my family and I. He was the People's Priest, never saying no to anyone who needed him. God bless you Fr. Tim. You've earned your retirement here and a spot in heaven for sure.

On an intellectual level- what a bad choice of words. I don't see intellect as a strong point among the board members. The state came in because the board has failed to do their job for many years. Their lack of education and egos got in the way of anything productive. Hathorn left because the poor guy couldn't take their interference anymore. The state said enough is too much and came in to save a sinking ship. I'd buy tickets to see what they tell Ms. Kimble when she tries to throw her weight around with them!
