Our school buildings have not been updated and look like something out of the 1950's. The stadium is now the worst in the area and will take many years of fundraising to bring it up to our neighboring schools. Market St school should have been closed years ago and combined into Glenwood. We have a bloated township budget with overpaid and overcompensated government employees.
A second grant of $6 million focuses on maintaining the Business Resource Network in the region and expanding it into Brown, Adams, Scioto, Stark, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Jefferson, Harrison, Belmont, Ashtabula, Geauga, Portage and Pike counties.
Since May 2008, the resource network has been providing businesses in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties with a single point of contact to a variety of business services available from workforce, economic development and education partner organizations.
Poland21, if copays adjustment would "only" cut costs $ 100,000, then why did the Board initiate and mandate play-to-particpate for sports and band? That will "only" raise $100,000?
If it is just a small sacrifice on Poland Schools employees, why don't the teachers step up and reopen the contract negotiations and accept the higher deductions? Instead they say screw the community, we'll see you when the current contract ends?
If the Board, led by Dr. Dinopolous, can arbitrarily impose a punishing and high monetary fee on Poland athletes and band members and their families, why can't the Board impose the same sanctions on those that can most afford it, the school employees and administrators?
Polandfan, every single cut or change you mentioned above impacted the students and families of Poland schools, not the employees. This school board continues to bite the hand that feeds them and has increased the burden on every Poland family with children. And these are the families that have voted down the school levy because of tough economic times.
A pay FREEZE and step freeze? PLEASE shed a tear. We in the private sector have had to CUT BACK way more than this in benefits and retirement!!
This Board (not including Lavorinie) negotiated and signed off on the last labor agreements. The treasurer gave his blessing to the labor contracts. They were extremely stupid, arrogant, or both to have done this. Let the Board President Dinopolas scare us and threaten us some more. We the voters want fiscal restraint and will keep voting no until we get it.
About time. Board man's facilities are some of the poorest around. Maybe now they can begin to compete again. Their best shot at getting this done is joining with Mooney and having Mooney be the lead. Hopefully this will stop Boardmans decline and lead to a resurgence that is long overdue.
Poland board members have their work cut out for them
Look for Dinopolas to ram through his pick. The other Board members will blindly follow.

County pays all retirement contributions in new Mahoning CSB deal
That is extremely expensive hospitalization, what is their deductible?
It should be at least $500.00. If not, they are over paying for premium coverage.
