yeah, all the profit goes back overseas. When Toyota/Honda/Hyundai build factories in the U.S. do they plant factory seeds and watch it sprout from the ground? seems like ya need a pretty good cash infusion to build a vehicle assembly facility.
~~~AXEL69: As for "Quality Built", the line workers are the quality behind the finished product; but they have to follow the blue-prints from GM, I believe. It's not the workers fault when ANY car manufacturer will not stand behind a product.
Absolutely true. It is amazing that GM nearly 70 years later still has not recovered from snubbing W. Edward Demings quality principles (which were widely accepted in Japan after WWII). Decades of building bad vehicles while Honda/Toyota were in continuous quality improvement cycles have proved disastrous for U.S. automakers.
How much of the 13% unionized workforce in the U.S., is accounted for in the auto and steel industries? Two industries that have been in decline for decades.
I just bought a "domestic" car. Dodge Journey. Good American car, right? Straight from the window sticker: "Assembled in Toluca Mexico with 59% parts origin, Mexico. U.S./Canadian parts origin, 29%"
Just buy American
When it comes to ‘buying American,’ the lines are blurred
