I think Gerberry might have panicked when he found out what a warm reception McCarthy has been getting in Austintown. Dick seems much older and mature than his years, plus there's his degree in accounting/finance and having worked with the DOD (experience with big budgets).
Sure Gerberry has been in politics for 30 years, but what has he accomplished? besides going from job to job? Has he even ever held a private sector job.
People are tired of these same old politicians. Just look at how low Congress's approval ratings are, just 9% in August (much lower than Bush's).
Have you noticed there's even some houses with Obama signs sporting McCarthy signs? I think this race is going to be a surprise upset.
They won't risk a question that they don't want asked. The vast majority of the TV reporters only ask soft questions. None of the hard ones are allowed.
It's probably just as well. I like Dave, and if he had asked the type of questions he is prone to ask - they might have went after him like they did with 'Joe the plumber', the Florida reporter, and the one in Philly.
If you ask tough questions, you are risking your livelihood. (Maybe they heard about Dave with Rudy?) I hadn't come across this editorial until today. I wish more editors were asking why this keeps happening.
FYI The reason the high school students walked out early is that they had to get back to the school in time to catch the bus. That was the all those (around 100) young people in the back of the room. (They were on a field trip.)
The Q&A was the whole point, it was called a town hall meeting after all. Maybe you were a bit bored, but I was thrilled to meet a great American hero and hear his plans for America. :)
The big difference between his visit and Obama's visit is that McCain's truly was a town hall, not a pep rally.
Presidential race overshadows local contests

Aussie, Brit media know what Obama camp doesn't

There should be no debate about having the debate
I think it's very important to mention that Sen Reid was the one that said McCain was needed to get the Reps on board. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3f0Bw...
Then when McCain dropped everything to go to DC, Reid changed his tune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDiKGe...
There is buzz all over the net tonight that the Dem plan was giving 20% of the bailout to ACORN! Do a little research on ACORN.

McCain’s visit to the Valley was unusual

Valley residents give Obama warm welcome
Dave, the last 2 paragraphs make up for your McCain report.

Obama’s appearance gave voters little that was new
I'd love to attend a town hall with both of them, but Obama has refused so far.
