New generation perceives different Youngstown than parents

Gee I think that advice is for anyone anywhere speak to BPD or a mall cop even 10 years ago. Malls are worst than downtown their problems are just hidden better by the authorities and the public doesn't hear about them.

Eastgate advisory board talks about high-speed rail service

Not to be a downer and doubter but when I see our current public transportation empty 90% of the time and we pay taxes to keep it open, where are passengers going to come from? Is there that much traffic on rte 11 or 79 now that there is gridlock from Erie to Youngstown or even Pittsburgh. I don’t see anything in the article about why passengers are going to use this in the proposed corridor. Seems like a waste of money

Youngstown gave severance packages to two former workers

Severence for someone that wasted public time to look at porn and not do the health checks to keep the public safe, really how about recouping the salary. If he is hired in any job within the city or cnty there should be an investigation.

Potholes pock several main streets in Youngstown

Come on people its northeast Ohio which had one of the coldest winters potholes are going to happen. Your focusing on youngstown roads which if you travel even a little out of town you will find worst roads that crews haven't even touched them yet. Youngstown crews are doing a great job considering the weather they have been dealing with, how about focusing on say boardman roads where you lose a car in some of them.

Mahoning officials defend county employees’ raises

First I would love my employer to hand out these kind of raises, where in the private sector recently has seen anything over 2-3% once a year. I thought only CEO's had their portion of retirement covered by their employer, how is this spending our tax dollars correctly. If anyone votes for this new tax they are stupid, tax payers should repeal the last one after seeing what they are doing with our money. How do you repeal a sales tax hike?

Youngstown council approved the city’s $171.5 million budget

I wonder where a copy of the budget can be retrieved, does anyone know?

Davis out as Youngstown environmental health director

I would hope the new mayor would not allow any opportunity to preserve any chance of employment. Now city council may be another thing.

As voting deadline nears, Youngstown council hasn’t seen city’s budget

It may not have been done in crayon but where is the detail, the comparison from one year to another. Just makes you question if or what is being hidden where in the budget or who's pocket. I hope Vindy post the final for tax payers when its approved.

Humane agents look for missing dog

They should look into a so called rescue that has stolen the dog and has pictures posted on her fb page. Probably the same that made the complaint calls to give a so called reason to steal the animal. Hope an arrest is made to stop this kind of thing happening again.

Three serious accidents reason for YPD patrols on Glenwood

I agree with alot of the posts. However i wonder if all the lights on some of our roads are necessary anymore. I know of a couple that can go since i would believe the reason for them was a local school that now does not even exist anylonger. Some waste drivers gas & add to pollution. I wonder if anyone out there knows how much a intersection stop light cost the city in electric and upkeep yearly?
