Youngstown fire inspector calls East High 'a fire hazard'

I went to East High and being a Heavy Equipment Operator I wanted to work on the project building the new East High. But it was built by a Non-Union contractor. And being a Union member I was sadden. I still frequented the job site and watched the contractor doing things that were contrary to the standards of excavation and compaction. If you know anything about site preparation and compaction of the pad you are going to build on...East High is a construction nightmare...The building was built on a substandard pad...it's sinking.. that why the doors aren't closing properly. Youngstown Board of Education got what they paid for Non-Union workers do shoddy work. Don't believe my 27 years in the trade knowledge get the builders blue prints then set up a transit.. elevations don't move , change or lie....SMH

Area business people sound off to Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel about government

I can't see the problem with figuring out how to fill out the papers so a companies workers can have health care a healthy work force is a productive work force.Maybe the German should return to Germany because here in America we want our citizens to have the same healthcare coverage as his native Germans enjoy. And if one should submit to drug screens all should that benefit from State , Local and Federal funds including business and elected officials. And being the State is strapped financially where is the monies to come from to pay for these drug screens ? Florida tried this same dumb idea it spent millions to save thousands. And a lot of people medicate themselves because they are stressed at how hard it is to get by on these 40 hour a week jobs who wages are so low they still qualify for public assistance. Did someone ask Mandell what's going on with the Governors JobsOhio scandal where's the missing funds and why has there been three different Directors is it's brief history ?

Camping out to cast first

The Key-stone pipe-line job is a environmental disaster waiting to happen why do you think Canada don't want to build the pipeline across Canada's pristine water-sheds and beautiful landscape to one of there coastal cities. It's not because they love America so much and want to spur our Economy it's because they are afraid of the environmental consequences of a environmentally devastating Tar-Sands Oil spill. Google tar-sands oil spills and look at it's effects tar-sand oil is thick like pea-nut butter and it sinks in water so it can't be skimmed off surface.

Youngstown leads nation with poverty rate of 49.7%

Hold up MFC, don't you dare try to voice Bush,Tax-cuts and Obama in the same sentence. The tax-cuts for the Rich and Corporations were signed into law by G.W. Bush and the GOP over a decade ago. Where are the jobs that the 10 year old Tax-cuts were suppose to create ? Obama and America's un-employed workers employment benefits were held hostage by the GOP .........if the Tax-breaks for the Rich were not extended then the GOP refused to extend Un-employment Benefits to the Millions of Americans that they the GOP put out of work.

2,000 jam downtown for jazz festival

Youngstown needs more of this
It made me think of days of old when Youngstown was a major stopping point for America's top entertainers/musicians before RAP The days when I was in one of Youngstown hottest bands
( Doug Green Combo/ Whole Dam Band) a photo of our group is featured in one of the pictures in Slivermans Vouge window downtown .The best part was the racially-mixed grown folks crowd , from beginning to end I did not see one pair of underwear via sagging. And boy was it a treat ! KUDOS to who ever put this event together !

Victims ID'd in fatal crash in Campbell

It's a shame that the Coroner made the families wait untill Monday to ID the victims. Even if Mahoning County has financial issues and the Coroner's investigators don't work the weed-ends. The investigating Campbell police officer had the driver Elijah Paige's photo in his possession. When he phoned the Coroner at his home and asked him , to at lest come open the morgue and he would ID Paige and any of the other passengers so there families could have some type of closure

What’s next for Kelly?

After listening to Jack Lowe's instructions to Kelly during this fight and the Hopkins fight.
It's apparent that Jack, a good guy and a honest business-man, is not the right man for this job. He didn't know what to tell Kelly to do in either fight ( swing low you might catch him???) , which does a in-justice to Kelly. There is a fellow on the East-side of Youngstown who has the expertize and experience to help Kelly retain and keep his title, even though Will Brandon has some issues of his own the union would be successful. Brandon's track record speaks for it's self: Jeff Lampkin titled, G. Richardson titled, M.Brandon ranked contender nuff said.

Folks once crowded into White House

The times you speak of are times of America's past before our foreign polices alienated us , times when the world loved America. You speak as if security at the White house should be as it was post- 911. At America's first black President's first Dinner Dance even muddy boot wearing crashers should be welcome Everybody who worked security that night at the White house should be fired and the "crashers" charged. Can you imagine what it would have done to America had it been "a night of horror" ? Either by a Osama-controlled "crasher" or a crazy Obama hating good ole white boy "crasher" with muddy boots on. It would rip this Nation from stem to stern and our enemies would love it ...destroyed us from with-in.
