For one in 10 Americans, today is a misnamed holiday

While it may be correct that 400,000 will exhaust their benefits by the end of the month, the fact is that some filed their 79th week a week ago! The frickin government went on vacation and just abandoned us. I won't be forgetting this fact!!

It's not like this is the first time, though. Or even the worst. I went without income from early November until a few days after Christmas. I couldn't even have anything for Christmas dinner other than raman noodles.

I don't give a flying <bleep> what the national figures are. This is the worst this area has seen since the 1930's. What makes this fact all the more sad is that it's not likely to improve, even as the nation does. There are no new jobs and no prospect for there ever to be any. Well... other than minimum wage jobs that is. (IMHO, someone working for minimum wage should be included in the "unemployed" category)

‘Crash’ has new meaning as thousands seek benefits

Yes, we HAD an obesity problem years ago. But the 90's forced many companies to downsize which eliminated the vast majority of the fat. The hard times of this millenium has gotten to the point where the very muscle is being digested.
