Hello, I want to say a few things. Yes it was an accident. We all understand that. The fact of the matter is that people have to be held accountable for the things they do even if it was an accident.
To the person who thinks that he was so sick he should be locked up in his room or something ... he was independent and wanted to be able to do things on his own. We had two kids, who he loved and wanted to be able to care for. Yes he was sick and had some problems but that doesn't mean he needed to be locked away. He wasn't gonna sit there and rot away, he tried to be himself and be around for his kids.
What people fail to realize is he did have two kids and the worse thing to do is to tell your 5 and 6 year old that "DADDY" is gone. I had to tell our kids what happen and why they can't see Daddy anymore.
People should be glad that he is only get a small charge. If you do research it is a Felony to hit a blind person when they are walking with there cane. This man " MIGHT " get only up to 90 days in jail. So he has to be without his family for maybe 90 days .. yeah he has to live with it for the rest of his life ... well my kids have to live WITHOUT there daddy for the rest of theres. So yeah I think he should be charged .. and untill it happens to you, let me tell you that you will never know the feeling and how you are gonna feel toward the person who accidently killed one of your loved ones.
