Good for you Bob. I remember you back in high school. Things were messy for some of us back then. Glad to see you are serving a greater cause and have found some happiness despite any past adversity. Good luck staying sober.

Interracial relationships increase

Why is this article even necessary? The fact that the Vindicator has found this article worthwhile to print astounds me! You would NEVER in a million years find an article containing this twenty-years-too-late content in a newspapers such as The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Why does interethnic/racial marriages currently need to be discussed? It does not require analysis. It's the equivalent of discussing the moon landing like it was yesterday! What shocks me most is that the writers and editor found this news to be cutting edge enough to print! I think it is time for The Vindy to step up and take responsibility for the racism very prevalent to The Valley and maybe address the ongoing efforts found in the community to bridge the multicultural gaps. I never knew how bad racism was in Ytown until I left. Come on Vindy! Talking about something that was so yesterday is beneath you and the people of Ytown!

Ohio mom has marquee sign showing anger at school

1.) Did you read the handbook prior to paying the $70.00. Basically, were you aware that your son's grades were not satisfactory enough to play for the team?
2.) If so, did you pay for the football expenses anyways?
3) WHY wasn't your son's grades satisfactory enought to play football?
4.) WHY aren't you more upset at your son for not giving his best to his education instead of best to his extra curricular activities?
This is just another sad case of baby's mama whose son can do no wrong. He'll never grow up to take ownership for anything because he's been taught that it's everyone else's problem, not his. How sad...

Dog attack at bus stop

Pit Bulls are not on the Bully Breed List for nothing. They have an aggressive streak in them that must be bred out, which will take many many years to do. Until then, we have the Michael Vick wanna be's of Youngstown to thank for such attacks.

City schools may consider 4-day week for savings

Youngstown Schools are completely inadequate, but less we forget the home dynamics of over half the children attending them. The fund are simply not there to pay the higher taxes to generate the same quality of education that children of the Poland or Canfield Schools receive. Is it fair? No, not at all. It is reality; yes it is. A solution must be met, however no one want to do without, yet no one is willing or able to pay to keep the current, albeit substandard level, of education up. I do not think a four day school week is the answer. It would be counterproductive to keeping the streets of Youngstown and it's surrounding communities safe. If you offer these children nothing constructive they in turn, will have nothing constructive to offer the community. That is why the Department of Job and Family Services is inundated with half educated dim-wits who get pregnant before they turn eighteen, baby's mamas, baby's daddy's, and the city has one of the highest crime rates per capita. These recipients of welfare will offer their children the same self-perpetuating cycle of substandard living. Honestly, the best thing the city can do for it's children is to let the state come in and fix the errors of the past and get the city back where it needs to be. Will it ever be where it was? Probably not, but at least it will be better than where it is now.
