When everything "blew up" with the recent arrest-it wasn't long before Hannah and Peanut were moved. Where are they now? Steve, Renee, and the probation officer should all be held accountable. In school, children are taught that their actions lead to consequences. When consequences are not enforced-another lesson is taught. Steve must be punished for what he did and for his disregard for his probation. Steve and animal abusers like him are likely abusers of mates, children, elders and others. We must stop those who hurt animals not only because it is sick and wrong, but because animals are a pictures of those who can not protect and care for themselves. Judge Douglas-please do what is right and just.
Thanks to Jessyray for the eloquent post. See here...Not only did this guy get off light in regards to his crime, now he's flagrantly disobeying the terms of his probation. A slap on the wrist is not enough to make him and others like him stand up and take notice of the paltry laws we have in place to protect animals. Ohio needs stricter punishments for animal abusers. I am deeply disturbed and appalled by the lack of reception Nitro's Law HB108 has received by our elected officials. It is time for Ohio to step it up and show the rest of the country that we will not stand for this type of behavior! Please support Nitro's Law HB108 by letting your legislators know how you feel! We have to rally for change ourselves and show the law makers of Ohio that we stand together in support of tougher punishments for abusers!
Yes-our system is flawed and "we the people" must work together to correct it.
Also please know these facts: A correlation between animal abuse, family violence and other forms of community violence has been established. Child and animal protection professionals have recognized this link, noting that abuse of both children and animals is connected in a self-perpetuating cycle of violence. When animals in a home are abused or neglected, it is a warning sign that others in the household may not be safe. In addition, children who witness animal abuse are at a greater risk of becoming abusers themselves.
Yes, those that support Nitro's Law are animal lovers-but we are also people lovers.
EVEN NITRO KNEW: A BUTTER KNIFE ISN'T A SCREWDRIVER
