Let's be realistic. We can get to a casino in Pittsburgh from here in an hour. We can get to a casino in Erie in an hour. We can get to a casino across the river from East Liverpool in an hour. We can get to a casino in Washington, PA in less than two hours. Soon there may be a casino near New Castle only a half hour away, there is already OTB there. To expect that people from this part of Ohio will drive four hours to the other side of Columbus or over 5 hours to Cincinnati just to keep their money in the state is foolhardy. The folks running the media blitz that tells us about all the Ohio money that will now stay in Ohio must think the voters of this area are stupid. Let's face it, most people are inclined to go to the easiest casino to get to regardless of what state its in. As for the FOP endorsement, who do you think will represent and staff the security forces in the casinos? And the 34,000 jobs being touted and the money being touted is based on FOUR casinos operating and is the result of a single study done by a group in Cincinnati. Listen carefully to the fast talk and read the small print. Two of the casinos are still in the dreams-on-paper stage, only two will be built immediately in Columbus and Cincinnati. And about half of those "34,000 jobs" are temporary jobs, and some of the others are part-time and minimum wage. Try to get a proponent of Issue 3 to tell you how many PERMANENT jobs will be created by the two casions that will be open on the forseeable future. Ths number is substantially less. Local people who want even a chance at these jobs will have to leave this area unless they want to commute to Columbus or Cincinnati. Vote as you will but don't be snowed by the "facts" spouted by both sides on radio and TV. Like they say: READ THE ISSUE then vote as your common sense tells you, one way or the other. And face the fact that there will probably never be a legal casino in the Youngstown area, we are already surrounded by casinos. The decision is yours. Please just think first.

How did we ever get through the day or travel from place to place before we had cell phones and texting? I guess nobody drove then? Somehow we survived. Needing to text or have inane conversations on the cell phone in the car or store or in a restaurant or theater is more than poor manners, it is an addiction not far removed from drug addiction. Many people can't supress the uncontrolable urge to text or talk on the cell phone whether it is important or not. Is the cell phone today's security blanket? Some people use the excuse that they are in sales and need to talk on the cell phone while driving. Bull! Sales existed succesfully long before there was the cell phone, a good salesperson doesn't need this crutch. If it is absolutly crucial that you talk on the phone while driving at least don't be so cheap that you can't get a hands-free unit. And it isn't about "rights" either. If you want to endanger yourself that's your business but you have NO right to endanger others with irresponsible actions that take away your attention while driving.

Buzzy needs the money so he can continue to participate in the high-stakes poker game he plays in on Wednesday nights in Hubbard. It really isn't that hard to waste 9 grand a week. If anybody knows how to do it, Buzzy does.

"Dr" Gonzo, the dateline in the article refers to the court which is in Warren, not Girard. Can't you read? And where do you get off stealiing the pen name of a person who has passed away. The REAL" Dr. Gonzo" was Hunter S. Thompson, a celebrated author I had the pleasure if interviewing when I was in college. Later I had the honor to participate in a study group headed by Mr. Thompson. You are a pale, pathetic imitation of the real "Dr. Gonzo". If you have to steal a pen name at least steal one from a person who has not passed away.

If this would have happened in Hubbard it would be a big joke. The so called "head" of the unsupervised Hubbard electric department not only left a city truck unattended with the keys in it but he left it RUNNING in the City Hall parking lot, a clear violation of Ohio law. Of course the truck was stolen along with a ring of keys to every city building in Hubbard. In the real world this employee would have been fired. But in Hubbard he was not punished, admonished or sanctioned in any way, he is still the "head" of the Hubbard city electric department....but wait....his father is on city council. Never mind.

Bottom line: Nearly $20,000 is missing and nobody will be held responsible. Somebody made a huge illegal profit and we're suppossed to think that it is not a problem. All the while the Post Office is crying about loosing money. Yet somebody is responsible for nearly 20 grand being missing but that's OK????? Something is VERY wrong here.

I don't know much about Wilson but Tim Ryan is a waste. Unless he can get his picture on TV or in the paper holding The Big Check he is worthless. The only thing he is truly concerned about is his own re-election. He loves to take credit for things that would have happened even without his personal annointing. ANY congressman could do the same thing Ryan loves to take credit for. Do you honestly believe any elected person would not take the same safe stands as Ryan? He has quickly mastered he art of telling you what you want to hear. Sure, he has managed to hang his name on some good things for the valley, but any other person in the same position could do the same thing. Ryan has a lot of people mystified with his smoke and mirrors.

There was, and still is, another non-union supermarket in Hubbard that was NEVER picketed. And, no, it isn't a Wal Mart, it is a locally-owned supermarket just like Nemenz. It is very obvious that the UFCW has a personal vendetta against Mr. Nemenez. In Hubbard the picketers were more than informational, they overstepped these bounds and intimidated shoppers by calling them names, shouting at them and even "mooning" them. I hope this winter the pickets, who are paid union goons, not ex-employees, freeze their ***** off if they have any.

In the article Representative Letson makes this mind boggling statement: "We shouldn't make laws that turn our citizenry into liars." What???? This is indeed a strange bit ot twisted logic. A law is just that, a law. No law, no matter how trivial, turns anybody into a liar. Only PEOPLE can turn THEMSELVES into liars, If a person knows that what they are doing is against a law then the law isn't to blame, the person is. This law needs to be changed or repealed but until that happens it is wrong to blame the law when somebody breaks it. The people who flaunt this law do so knowingly, to blame the law is foolish. Mr. Letson, as a person who participates in making laws, should know better. If he does not, then one has to wonder exactly what the people were thinking when they elected him.
