well let me just throw my 2 cents in. If you have never had an Akita and don't know the breed, then some of you shouldn't be commenting about these dogs being agressive. That they are not. Akita's are a very tolerant dog of abusive behavior and have a high will of being self controlled. They are very hard to be traind for agressive behavior because they are SELF CONTROLED.( NO MATTER WHO IS TRYING TO TRAIN THEM TO BE) Although they are very protective of there home and family inside. they do not bark at all. period.... they do not bite.. period...no matter how they are trained. they are very TOLERANT DOGS. for all of you who have commented about this dog being agressive from what you read ,about it meeting the officer at the door of the steps... please if that's agressive then i guess the police should stay away from my house, because when my 135lb GENTLE GIANT(akita) meets you at the front door, i'm sure the officer would put a present in his pants. and if someone would come into my home he would be the first to knock them to the ground and keep them there to help arrived. they are breed to protect their family and that's just what this dog did. and i would just like to know if the officer said this dog barked at him, because it dosen't say in the article, because if he said it did then you know he is not telling the truth these dogs do NOT BARK they woo....woo.. almost whine... not barking...
I have a few questions..... 1st we have so many police cruisers that most of them sit behind the department not being used. Why? Then we pay employees in the utility dept. to play solitaire on their computers because they have no work to keep them busy. Why? Then most of us that don't work in the city limits work in another municipality and have to pay taxes to both cities while people that live in township pay no city taxes and still use our schools and buses, streets, ect.why? being double dipped must compensate for stupid decisions. That's just the tip of the iceberg for our city officials, making frivolous decisions with tax payers money, maybe they should have one of our hard working middle class citizens balance our budgets, I’m betting they would do a better job since they deal with it on a daily basis.
