Holiday spirit human interest piece...lighten up. It's better than the infamous front page headline and picture entitled Goose and Duck are friends or something to that effect from a few years back.
ECHL - Yes, I would once again be a season ticket holder
USHL - No, if I wanted to see college hockey, I'd watch YSU. The Phantoms games are not nearly as exciting as the CHL games were/are, I tried to make do with them but no dice. I'd rather sit home.
Thank you Tom Williams for recognizing that there are hockey fans in the Valley. It's a shame that hockey has pretty much died here on the professional level. The Phantoms are a wonderful amateur team but it just isn't the same. The AHL Monsters aren't that great either. The CHL gave a great deal of entertainment for a nominal price. Too bad Herb Washington let it get away. Unfortunately, owning a minor league hockey team is a labor of love, not a money making endeavor, which is something Mr. Washington failed to realize.
Yet another disappointing show by YSU and the City of Youngstown. For an institution that demands community respect and support, this is a disgusting act. YSU should support this community if it expects the support of the residents and businesses. I am very, very disappointed in the acts and decisions YSU and its leadership continue to make regarding this community. I am ashamed that the City of Youngstown supports YSU's greed.
While I understand that a collapse of the auto industry is not something that should be desired, I do not support the bailout without concessions by the UAW and Gettelfinger. I would particularly like to see Gettelfinger and the higher ups in the Union give not so much the actual union members. I do feel however that the inequality of wages and wages levels of all people in the union should be addressed. The people with the least seniority keep getting the raw end of the deal while those that caused the issue with their bloated benefits don't have to concede anything. I do not support that.
"1,400 - 2,300 a month"...that's a little steep. In fact, that's more than I pay for my mortgage on my house which is larger than these apartments and is in a 'burb. I would have loved to be able to afford one but it now seems that I can't afford to move from the 'burbs back in to Youngstown.
I applaud the effort but I think that the pricing might need to be re-evaluated.
Ridiculous. In this area, with the lack expendable cash flow, all that is going to do is keep people from coming to the Chevrolet Centre. Many attendees can barely afford the tickets let alone the additional costs for parking and raised food and beverage prices.
While I would LOVE to see a professional hockey team return to Youngstown Ohio, Herb Washington is NOT the man to do it. His irresponsible decisions and poor marketing/business planning have only served to bring disappointment to the area hockey fans.

Will hockey return next year to the Chevy Centre?
