The Pledge of Allegiance is as much about respect for our fallen soldiers and forefathers as it is about appreciating the freedoms that they gave us.

The neighbors bear some responsibility here. We are all in this mess of a world together and every one of us is responsible for the problems if we know or suspect something and don't DO SOMETHING about it.
