The truth is the majority in Boardman has seen their income go down too. The State of Ohio takes away $15 million from Boardman School taxpayers income tax, and now the " friends" want us (property owners) to make up the first installment increased property tax levy of $3.1 million. It seems to me our "friends" and locally elected trustees need to pressure the State for our money back.
The time has come to stop passing the burden on to the property owners. I quote from the Ohio Supreme court ruling DeRolph I [and] DeRolph II." These earlier decisions had also declared the funding system unconstitutional and identified particular elements, such as the "over reliance on property taxes" and "forced borrowing," which the General Assembly needs to change in order to develop a system that meets the "thorough and efficient system of common schools" required by the Ohio Constitution.

Let's see if my math is correct, 4,713 student divided by $ 26 million equals an additional $ 5,516 per student on top of the current $ 8,766 cost per student to the new total of $ 14,282 per student. Let's say with 8,844 households with 4 person to each house, that would be like asking each household to come up with an additional $ 2,939 each. Read our lips no new taxes( most of us making less and houses valued less), major, major additional overall will be needed. Any ideas out there?
