If you read the article, the purpose seems to be to open up funding from student government to include individual students' academic pursuits in addition to student organizations. Thus, this proposal would benefit everyone, as all students should be taking part in academics at an institution of higher learning. Then, it seems that the question of how many students participate in organizations and activities on campus is irrelevant.
YSU will likely be increasing tuition this fall. Probably with a whole slew of newly-assessed fees and charges. Wouldn't it make more sense for whomever is in charge of the budget to include something that directly benefits the lives and careers of students rather than making more money to build fancy sidewalks and statues?
