As a new business owner in the downtown area, not only that but actually on west federal st. as well, I am curious to know why the current plan is being sent out for bid when the two plans haven't been compared & contrasted in the public arena. Actually, i have seen both plans and the one that they are bidding on now that will put the street out of comission for a time seems to have very little reward. The fact that they changed the plans, and added a few spots on side streets to make it seem like a little more is somewhat of a farse. The article i read today doesn't show the plan for where the spots are going to be as well as the fact that we lose over 40 spots in the newest version of the plan. I see that the paper also quoted the fact that the city has lost a lot of residents yet the plan to fix the road feeds that by quelling the parking infrastructure that would be required by the city to see it grow any further. Keep in mind that there are approximately 100 future living units, the growth of Turning Technologies, and the new Lemon Grove going in nearby. If there wasn't a parking issue, I am curious as to why it is my patronage's number one issue. I have also discussed the issue with several of the neighboring business owners and it is the same with them as well. As for those 'concerned citizens' that showed up to voice their dissaproval at the first plan, I am curious to meet one as i have been down here for like two months so far and haven't had the opportunity to meet one person who claimed that he/she showed up at that meeting. Actually, it would be nice for them to come down and talk to me to tell me why they want to keep the median at all, it would seem that to spend nearly 500k you would want to get something out of it and as this plan stands, frankly i don't see the potential benefit. On a curious note as well, i also read that the Poland furniture store is closing and that made front news, yet we opened up a grand new and interesting place in Youngstown and got a little blurb on the side of the Business section AND i even advertise with you.
