So the question is: Do we tolerate minor earthquakes in exchange for a much needed economic shot in the arm. Everyone knows if there is money to be made, it's going to be made one way or another! That gas is down there and the powers that be are gonna cash in!! I'm a contractor and I have to follow these stupid lead dust laws so lead paint doesn't get on your lawn, but the EPA turns a blind eye to these events....You think they are in the pockets of energy companies? Yes! and again....YES!
I personally hate fireworks, so I don't buy them and I don't light them off. I have nothing against people who do though, and it's only one day a year. I suck it up and turn the other way.....the neighbor is the jerk initially, then the guy lighting them acted like a jerk, and ultimately the cop HAD to be a jerk. Whose the winner here? The courts!
may the author of the above article choke on each and every word as he/she eats them!! I'm hoping some group of upstart individuals starts a newspaper in this valley that puts the vindy out of business!!
Here's what I say to you: assiseeit: I haven't been to Wal-Mart in twenty years, so lets close that down too.
Stan: Great idea....people don't want to pay 75K to run it, let alone 150K to promote it....and look around, is Stambaugh Golf Course the city's main attraction? Don't get out much...do ya?
mrblue: Some people LIKE to play Stambaugh.....just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean we should close it.....Look around, there are other people on the planet. (I have no tolerance for selfishness!!)
Tigerlily: Why don't you organize a neighborhood group that volunteers twice a month to do exactly as you stated. Oh wait....why don't you sit on the porch, eat potato chips, drink beer and let someone else do all the WORK!! ( I have no tolerance for laziness!!)
The formula enacted by the state (which Youngstown is exempt) is fallible. I believe that the number of judgeships should be based on a more direct statistic. How about crime? I believe that the crime rate, and therefore the number of cases that a judge would handle, is a more accurate barometer of the number of judges that should be serving. What's the point of eliminating an $114,000 job, if criminals are being held in the county jail awaiting trial for longer periods of time costing more to incarcerate them. This would surely eliminate any savings seen from the reduction in judgeships. The last thing Youngstown needs is a more inefficient court system. So, basically since Youngstown has a disproportionate amount of cases in comparison to the population, I think the need for three judges is justifiable.
I don't know if closing the prison is synonomous with releasing the prisoners. Sending terrorists to American prisons might be far worse for "detainees" than the interrogation and other "injustices" that they are subjected to at Guantanamo. I say let these terrorists be locked up next to some convicted skinhead murderer and observe what follows.
UPDATE: State bans injection wells within 5 miles of Youngstown site

Would you care if Youngstown closed Henry Stambaugh Golf Course?

Y’town needs a new ‘court’

Do you agree with President Obama’s decision to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay?
