I'd much rather hear about how the 13-remaining theaters are successfully producing award-winning performances than the woes of the Youngstown Playhouse. The gold nugget is success, whether in Akron, Salem, Alliance, Lisbon, or even Youngstown.
Don't get me wrong, when the Youngstown Playhouse shut down, we all shed a tear. But this article makes it seem others snuck into a "void" because the Youngstown Playhouse canceled its season.
Perhaps those other theaters simply put on better shows?
Mr. D'Astolfo, have you been to Weathervane and seen some of their most excellent productions? Have you seen Stage Left's uncanny ability to produce top-notch shows with youth talent? Have you heard Top Hat's vocals and seen some of their precision?
I guess I wish this article was more about the individuals and how they are achieving theatrical excellence. That's why I read it twice... looking for the people-part. Didn't find it.
